Description
A windy, early autumn day and an airborne shortcut...Pose loosely referenced off that lovely lovely Mania trailer - my goodness it's tricky to get limbs right on a character that's in the moment of changing direction!
The leaves were fun, the rest of the surface background not so much. Originally it was going to be forest until I realised, after colouring the bottom left corner, that my lovely leaves weren't going to show up well as foreground very easily if I did that - even if I used more green. So it became river which then looked a bit uninteresting so in went the bridges/spikylogs. I don't think I've changed my mind about background so much in one pic before!
Still, I'm fairly happy with the sense of up.

I have to say the theme, perspective, and whole feeling of this pic is just fabulous! The leaves
floating around Sonic and Tails really gives it the feeling of motion and brings this whole picture
to life. The background is great too, without it the pic would feel empty. Awesome job!

It was interesting how just putting the leaves at different angles and 'folding' some of them over made it feel windy all at once!

Oh wow! You did soo well! I love the perspective, and especially the leaves! I don't think anyone else has come even close to what you've done with the leaves in the air. It adds such an amazing feeling to this that I'm upset you'll still have to compete with digital art.

The leaves were fun to do and I was quite pleased with how the sense of height came out, though I don't think my two bridges are quite in proportion one with the other! The cop was a good spur to get the pic finished really - I've been wanting to do a seasonal set for a while.

I wish I could draw something inspiring and seasonal. I have only been practicing characters as of late. Trying to make a picture of Tails from SA2 actually--well--sortof. Once I feel good enough about how I draw bodies, perhaps I will try to do scenery. It all takes steps to get good. : P

Love the sense of movement (of up as you called it), and it sure has a very Mania style! Sonic has this "let's go" look, and Tails looks like he's going to just chase after those leaves and try to catch them.
The leaves are great, by the way. I keep looking at the large maple leaf above Sonic's head; it's so nicely detailed! They're all floaty and twirled up, too.

I had to have a word with myself about calling a halt to adding more leaves - they were very enjoyable to draw and colour.

It seems like the thing they'll do when they aren't out going after Eggman or so. Just fool around outside and have fun exploring. I imagine they're frequent guests to Windy Valley, too. Must be fun to play in the gusts for both of them!
Ah, could have added quite a few more before it'd have been too much.
