Description
Art trade with =dinoPharaoh of their character, Blackey (in her summer form). Done using Prismacolor markers and Copic outlining pens on Bristol paper. I decided to use Prismacolors for this one because they needed some love (my copic markers get all the attention these days). Blackey is a dragon, cat and dog hybrid.Anyways, hope you like it! I spent forever getting the paws and legs right! Argh! Oh, and sorry about that little purple fingerprint. . Stupid purple decided to bleed onto my finger. . .

Thanks! I just kind of color and let my brain do all the work. That's honestly all it is. . It's a pain to get your marker coloring brain pathways functioning, but once they are built, things get easier

I was quite happy with the feet as well (they took the longest of anything to do, but were worth it).
Wait. . . O_o She can light her feet on fire?! I just added it in because I figured it was her summer form and the orange in fire would look nice and explain why her paw was positioned as so.
The weirdest thing is if you look at your half next to mine. It's almost like they are mirrors of one another, I mean they are both positioned similarly. Which is really strange because I did not mean to have it end up looking anything like your half. It just kind of did. She was originally supposed to be standing

I am not busy so much with artwork though - I am going to be a high school senior so I need to do a bunch of college writing over the summer. But common app.com launches on August 1st. So I have to wait until then.
Anyways. I used to design spirit creatures for a lot of people (me and my friend: ) are the only two who really got used now though.
But sure, I can tell you a little more about them:
1) Spirit creatures represent the person who they are created for or by. They are made up of four animals - one for each of the four directions, North, South, East and West. Each also has a sort of element (Awaicu's is fire) that corresponds to the animals which make up the creature. Each one can also have a mark somewhere on its body that represents this element (Awaicu has the black sun across her forehead and ~FeralVolpa 's character Volpa has a red moon). The animals chosen should ALL show in the final creature design.
2) Choosing the animals. . Is something that nobody can do for you and they should not just be an animal that you like but one that you have a special connection with. For example. Awaicu's animals, the lion was chosen because my astrological sign is Leo. The wolf was chosen because I have always had a strong connection to the animal through my artwork and because I recognize the importance of their domestication in the history of humans themselves - my own history. The dragon was chosen because it reminds me of my childhood and people have told me I am more mature and wise than most people my age, like an ancient dragon. Lastly, the crow (or raven) is like my guardian animal. There are crows that live in the trees surrounding my house and they have always been around me. Choose animals that really mean something to you.
3) Yes. You can design a spirit beast. I need to come up with some name for them. But go ahead, choose four animals that you feel truly mean something to you and then work around with their forms until you have something that shows all four animals in a creative way ^^

But sure, yeah. I think I am going to put some information about them in my journal so that anyone can make one. Only thing you need to make sure is that the character as well as the spirit mark is not identical to anyone else's character.
You can choose the same animals and element as anyone else, but the design needs to be different at the end ^^

I have taken her and made her into one of my Characters, and I love her alot!
Her element is Frost... but she has no marking yet. could you give me an idea?
I think sh represents me well. The Snow loepord is because I am a feline like person, and I am white skined. Wolf because I love them so much. Golden Tree snake because I have really seen one, and as I looked into its eyes, I was overwelmed with love, fear and wonder. Dove because I believe in Jesus Chist.

I can't wait to see! And no, it most certainly does not have to be on her forehead. It can be inside the mouth, on the bottom of a foot, on the wing, tail, shoulder, neck, chin, eye. Anywhere you want! But it is usually a solid color (Awaicu's is black for example) and the mark is fairly simple. Plus every single spirit beast has a slightly different mark - no two are exactly the same (unless there are two that represent the same person like Awaicu and Kai.).
There can also be one or multiple marks (but if there are multiple, they should all be the same).

Hmmm, I unserstand. Which elements can you pick from? Like, just fire, water, ground and air or others like thunder and ice and stuff are also choosable?
Hmm, okay. So if I had to pick some... They would probably be:
-The snow leopard. Why? Because, despite I never draw them, I feel very connected with them. First of all, people tell my I reasamble a feline in my physicall appearance and way of acting. But I cat more as a lonely animal, usually isolated in certain places. I also like snowy places, so I think it kinda represents me in some ways.
- I'd say dragon, too. Not to be a copycat, but people often say I act as an older person, and my mom is always saying it looks like I am in charge of the house instead of her. I also am the only one of my class who enjoys reading and learning, and the one that often helps others and answers their questions.
- Owl. Why? In part also for the wiseness and olderness that it represents, but for its silence skills also. They are very silent, and it is very easy for me to sneak up on people. People also often feel attracted by their eyes, and persons often make compliments to my eyes. And I am mostly nocturnal, like them.
- Also not to copy, but I have to say wolf. Why? Not only because it was my favorite animal, but because alphas are natural leaders. As I said before, I am a reserved person, but when I am forced to do teamwork I am the boss. I also inspire respect for my classmates. Most of them, since there are little spoiled kids around. And, not to forget, canines have always been involved in my life.
So, what do you think? Good reasons? Am I copying Awaicu too much?

You can choose any element, even obscure ones (but you can only choose one). Some choices include fire, water, earth, wind, ice, darkness, time. You can also choose from emotions like rage or joy. Usually animals like the lion or dragon would most likely represent fire and animals like the dog represent something like loyalty - but you mainly want to choose an element that represents YOU, just like the animals. I chose fire because of leo is a fire symbol and because I am a warm person as well as for a few other reasons.
Those animals sound great! I forgot to mention there are actually two other spirit beasts that I have designed for my cousin ---> [link] (she chose the lion, snow leopard, snowy owl and dolphin, all of which are very suiting) and then one for my friend ---> [link] (who picked the ball python, dragon, golden retriever and falcon). Yeah. Just to give you some ideas.
But no, it doesn't matter if you choose similar animals to Awaicu, so long as you put them together differently. Like use the owl's tail with dragon wings or perhaps owl feet. There are a LOT of possibilities. Even Awaicu could look totally different if I chose different parts from each animal that makes her up ^^

The phyton one is quite interesting. And I also have a couple of other animals to make her different from Awaicu.
Wolf could be replaced by african wild dog, since they behave alike but are different animals. Yes, I actually think it is a better idea.

I like the idea of the half made wings. I prefere snout rather tan beak, and paws rather than talons. Also, to be a bit more specific with the tyto wings, I want the to look like this owl's ones. [link] Not exactly the same if it is too hard, of course.

Oh and a few more questions. Eye color? (Eyes should correspond to element). I also need the element you chose (don't remember if you already said). And then you need to choose a simple symbol for the spirit mark. The spirit mark symbol should also correspond to the element (for instance, Awaicu = fire element = blue eyes (yes, fire can be blue) = sun spirit mark).
This will be fun! I will get started ASAP. Meaning probably in the next few dayz.

Left wing (raven wing) = Black and dark blue
Right wing (dragon wing) = upper side and veins are black, underside webbing is white.
Sun mark on forehead = white
Mane and tail tip = black (for this drawing they are red fire though).
Eyes = crimson red (glowing)
Inside of mouth = WHITE (I think I said red before but no, it's white).
Paw pads = White
Body = Dark grey
Tail = black with white scales on the underside
Claws = black (retractable like a lion).
That should be it. The dark grey can be any shade, so long as it's grey. . and dark ^^
