Description Kites of all shapes and colors have been made in china for thousands of years. Many of the colors and icons that make china unique can be seen in its different kites. Before kites were used to drop arrows on people on the other sides of walls but also were a pass time for people who could afford them. Many of them were and still are made by hand using bamboo and paper.

This little walkway has been converted into a small shop by the owner of the buildings. Sort of a strange design where you have a path going right through your house, if you look on the bottom left you can see the pot where their kitchen is. To makes things better, they live right next to the rail road tracks.

This was a hard photo to take because it was a wide area stuffed away with a lot to see but I had to get selective about what I wanted to show. Then to make it more interesting I had to stand there waiting for someone to walk by and the perfect moment to catch a calm looking colorful photo.

Great picture, contrasting, and angle. I love how this isn't the usual angle one would see. One thing I'm not too sure about, however, is the cropping, or lack thereof, at the right. Some of that seems unnecessary, but that's just my opinion.

Lovely picture overall!

indeed, a lot of the right side can be unnecessary, but at the same time there are two problems with that, first if I zoomed in on that then I would be loosing the top of bottom of the image as well, second is that it helps make the picture feel small for me

Did you hand-hold your camera when taking this shot or did you use a tripod?

I love the colors. This is interesting, and it shows me a side of China I haven't seen.

Very nice shot The colourful kites certainly brighten up the otherwise rather drab exterior...

Nice shot, the cemment walls are so cold that it actually looked like you have retouched the photo by making it part achromatic
Kite wasn't a big part of my childhood, living in the city didn't exactly provide the opportunity, then when they banned fire crackers, that was it, all the fun stuff were gone

thats one of the interesting things about china, most of the time they dont bother to cover these cement walls with something spiffy, so what you got is dozens of cold looking houses that are being eaten away by rain because someone was too lazy or cheap to cover them!

This is a very nice shot. The contrast between the colorful kites and the gray floor and walls is very beautiful!
