for project comment
there are a few mistakes with this drawing. first off is the hair. it seems a little flat. in manga, you want to make it as much more thicker. also the eyes are slightly to high. u just need to bring them down slightly. making the hair less flat will also help. his neck seems a little thick but it is hidden by that black thing. his eyebrows are a little short. he is a guy so u can make them bigger than girls eyebrows and maybe make them more in line and on center with they eye (i cant come up with any words to describe it) his shoulders are wide but he has a muscular build so that is fine. the rest of the anatomy is fine. u did a good job of giving just a little bit of muscle to his arms. you had the flowers cover his hand gripping the katana handle. this stands out and makes it look like u got lazy and didn't want to draw the hands and finders because they were to hard. i saw your gallery and i can see that you know how to draw hands though. the yellow cloak is just a bad shade of yellow. it looks bright and abnoxius while still being dark and looking groos. it sticks out like a sore thumb. there were many things u did well. your shading and lighting on the hair is minimal but still effective. just make sure u know where the light source is comming from. you did a great job drawing the folds in the clothes. they are in all the right spots. overall the shading is minimal but it works and looks good. the sword is drawn well although it would look better if the tip of it wasent colored by the flowers. the flowers behind him are look good in this drawing but teh flowers that are in front of him and covering part of his sword stand out. it would look better if they werent there. i hopw i wasent to negitive. overall, it looks like u worked hard on this. i would reccomend studing anime anatomy and constantly looking at refrences when drawing. i waould also reccomend making sure that it doesnt look like you took shortcuts

Hey there, I'm from
So let me begin by saying that you've done an awesome job with this piece. The robes look thick and flowing , you managed to flee in terror ( from drawing the hands) with a fantastic amount of grace. You've got strong contrasts and nothing that clashes. In short your construction is beyond my ability to critique. Your composition now, well that's my house .
Your composition is actually quite solid and there's only one minor problem with it, mostly I'll be offer some suggestions that you can heed or ignore as you see fit. So the minor difficulty is that you're using the entire canvas, putting details and things to look at across the entire piece.
I'm going to take a quick detour here.
There's this technique call simple vs. complex and it boils down to pitting sections of high detail against sections of little detail. Employing this technique not only creates some nice contrast, but it also gives us a place where we can rest without getting pummeled by details. With this in mind, I might consider removing the flowers in the lower right to create a section of empty space.
Okay my next suggestion ( this is one that you can ignore if you want, it just the deluded ramblings of some crazy person) is that you give the flowers a a sense of motion just to help them generate more interest. I'd do this by varying their depth a little. Starting with the flowers in the lower left, I'd actually start a little more toward the center and pull them into the foreground through size and vibrant coloring. After that, showing them traveling back into the picture while also curving upward. Maybe have the flower turn and flow behind the guy's body ( creating a bit of empty space) only to quickly reappear between his elbows as the flower migrate from the back to the foreground, ( i'd advise against just putting them into the foreground like a bunch of stickers, show us their journey). Once again in the foreground, they can obfuscate those pesky devil calls hands before traveling back into the picture and hiding behind out man's head. At this point I'd actually increase the size of the canvas, giving us the space to the see the flowers curving toward the right before turning and coming back to the center foreground. Alot like what you have going on now except with a spot of empty space hanging around to the right of his shoulder.
Whelp, that's all I got for you. I hope this help.
Fare thee well.

Hello, I'm from over at project comment and I just wanted too say I really love this piece! Your line art is absolutely gorgeous, you really seem to know your way around clothing folds, and the hair looks wonderfully swooshy.
That being said I can't help but feel that your shading is rather weak, not because that it's light, light shading is fine, my problem with it is that it's grey shading. If I'm not mistaken (and if I am please correct me!) you used a semi-transparent back or grey to shade this piece, which isn't wrong, I mean it works, but it lacks life. Try using different colors when you shade it will add so much more depth and life to the piece. When shading think about the color of the lighting, even white light tends to be a cool color, usually a bit blue-ish, from there you can determine the color of the shadow, cool colored shadows for warm lighting and warm shadows for cool lighting. Of course this is no hard and fast rule and at the end of the day you can probably get away with just using a desaturated purple.
Also, I see what you did there with the hands, or lack of them, and that's fine! The flowers balance the piece well and the lack of them does not detract from the piece. But bear in mind that the only way you'll improve is by drawing hands, even if they're in a weird or difficult pose.
But none of this makes this piece 'bad' honestly it's quite good and your mastery of flowers is down right incredible! You have a lovely choice of colors and again, I absolutely love your line art, one of my favorite things about most manga styles is that they demand precise narrow line art, which is always looks so sharp and elegant and you've nailed that line art perfectly! Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much for your kind words!!
Thank you for the helpful link also c: for this piece I used a vibrant orange colour to shade and also a deep skin colour for the skin as well as a deep/greyish purple for the hair, which is why you may be seeing grey/black? I got told by a friend a few years back not to use dark colours to shade haha, makes for a bad piece if you use them xD
Yeah the lack of hands I'm not too proud of, it was an awkward pose for them and after a few tries I couldn't quite get them to my liking so
I took them away not to destroy the piece. Thank you for the advice <3 I'll certainly work on this in the future as I'm really not proud of them here haha
Thank you again for the compliments and your time c:, I'll try my very best to work on the areas you mentioned and work towards improvement!
