The sun was low on the horizon, bathing the forest in shallow evening light as its last rays gave warmth to the trees and plants. Long shadows cast themselves on the forest ground as two foxes pushed their way through the bushes side by side.

"Did you see the look on the merchant's face when he realized all his gold was gone?" the gray vixen laughed, stretching her head up in triumph.
The red vixen next to her giggled and gave her a sideways glance. "He's probably seen his whole life flash before his eyes," she joked with a grin.
"Probably," Kaya chuckled. "But one's sorrow is another one's joy."

"At least now we'll have some money to get by for now. And maybe we can pay off our debt to Garth, too."

Kaya noticed the troubled undertone in Avi's voice. She didn't want this day to end on a gloomy note. She grinned and playfully threw herself against Avi's shoulder.
"So what. You know, I don't think it's so bad. Making the city unsafe, stealing money from the pockets of the rich..."

She stopped, the light of the sun making her fur appear golden as she turned her gaze to Avi. "Together with you. I could go on forever."
Avi gazed into her emerald eyes, where she could loose herself into again and again. She heard her heart pounding in her chest and with her cheeks slightly flushed, she shifted her gaze away towards the sun. Deeply she inhaled while a satisfied smile formed on her lips. "You're right," she admitted contently. "We could go on like this forever."
