Description First up, this is not my art. I've simply decided to do this for preservation purposes. This all came about after a brief discussion with ShiftyStanley reminiscing over days gone by.

Whispa was the mascot of the long-defunct Ansett NZ. She was later replaced with a cuter CGI version but I can't find any traces of that any more so hence my decision to redraw her original form and publish it online.

Ansett was an Australian-based airline that offered domestic flights around New Zealand in the 1990s and early 2000s. They operated a fleet of British Aerospace 146s which were often referred to as 'whisper jets' due to their low (for the time) noise footprint. Ansett was well known and respected for their memorable TV ads and outstanding service. A couple of the ads are here:

Sadly the airline met its demise after being bought out and run into the ground by Air NZ in Australia and shortly after, Qantas in NZ. Thousands were put out of work and dozens of unwanted aircraft were cut up for scrap.

With the airline well and truly gone I've no idea who owns the IP for Whispa today, or if anyone even cares about her anymore. If someone does then I'm sure they will let me know in due course and I'll take the picture down. In the mean time, enjoy Whispa and a little bit of history!

I couldn't find a picture of her anywhere on the internet.

Neither could I! I traced this picture from a printed copy I found among some old airline memorabilia. I'd be very happy if someone can find a copy of the new version.
