Sauraeetes aepysaurus is the greatest predator of Northern Avigonia, at least before molting season.With a wingspan of at least 10 feet among adult males, and 6 to 8 feet among females, S. aepysaurus is the largest of a family of flying reptiles known as the Phyllolepidosaurs. The Phyllolepidosaurs are indigenious to the rainforests of Avigonia, and are capable of flight, with a plumage of thin, feather-shaped scales. These scales are usually shed all at once, as the Phyllolepidosaurs are also accomplished climbers, and are often strictly arboreal.
Here, we see an adult male pursuing a Phrygiacasuarius struthio through the Avigonian rainforest.

Excellent action shot; good work also on the coloring job. Rather than an eagle, though, your predatory critter makes me think of a more archaic archaeopteryx. I like the fact that this creature still has scales, rather than actual feathers.

What happens after molting season?

Come rainy season, they molt their flight-scales, and can no longer fly.
Sometimes, they fall victim to some of the larger indigenious sphingosaurs during their flightless, arboreal lifestyle.
