Actually, it's more of an Archaeopteryx-like lizard, as it has no true feathers, and has no beak.

Hey, I'm almost done with coloring that picture, Give me a link to the original - or I'll just have to find it in your gallery.

Excellent action shot; good work also on the coloring job. Rather than an eagle, though, your predatory critter makes me think of a more archaic archaeopteryx. I like the fact that this creature still has scales, rather than actual feathers.

Hence my other description catchphrase of it "being an Archaeopteryx on bull steroids."

I do love the colouring, and the detailing of the wing feathers.

What happens after molting season?

Come rainy season, they molt their flight-scales, and can no longer fly.
Sometimes, they fall victim to some of the larger indigenious sphingosaurs during their flightless, arboreal lifestyle.

Which could range anywhere from a large white splatter of poop to the half-eaten carcass of some small animal...

Thanks.
I figured that if I were to wait and try asking other people to color it, I'd never get it finished.

Thank you.
So you agree that it's akin to a reptilian eagle?
