Description Inspired by Tigsie's beautiful By Your Side [link] I thought I'd finally upload a full color version of my Locke-Knuckles pic I Missed You So Much.

I actually colored this several months ago for my mom, who hung it on the refrigerator. (If you find it hard to believe I'm 24, you're not alone.) This is a copy of the original, which I inked myself and colored with colored pencils. (The diagonal line is from the left margin of the looseleaf paper I originally drew this on.)

I'm pretty happy with this job overall, except for the inset gem(?) in Locke's belt, which I screwed up while inking and had to overcorrect, and the white shine marks on their noses which I accidentally colored over. Because in life, there is no UNDO button.

I should really learn to think more positively.

I almost cried when I saw this. I know Knuckles hated his dad at times but loved him no matter what.

Very, very great print. Just the silent interpretation of the pain just comes straight out to the mind.

Nice work. Way better than I could try by hand, yet it's in my mind.

I remember this pic from long ago. Sometimes I feel there's so few people who actually feel pain over this. I mean, it's not like it can reflect real life and the missed out opportunities and such.
Even stuff of fiction can speak deep into the human psyche.

P.S. Thanks for the fave.

Hm.

Yes, unfortunately it seems Locke's death has relegated him from an interesting, three-dimensional character to just another aspect of his son's "character development" — adding "depth" to Knuckles' hatred for the new villain du jour, Finitevus, and giving him another reason to angst. (As if he needed it.) That seems like a pretty shoddy trade-off to me, but I don't write this stuff. *shrugs*

Sometimes I think this comic is made of missed opportunities. But I guess that's what we fan creators are here for, isn't it?

If there weren't opportunities, we fans wouldn't be needed as much I guess. Poor Knuckles is obviously hurt over his father's death and I think exploring a father/son relationship that's trying to rebuild would have been more character developing but ah well. Can't have everything.

And I'm really on the fence about Finitevus now after this latest arc.
