I'd really wanted to redo this image for that reason. I'd originally drawn it on an Oekaki board, and it just didn't do it justice. I think this re-draw nailed what I wanted to go for. :3 I had a lot of fun with it! Thanks!

really cool! what filters or effects did you use? I think i see liquify tool at bottom, but was wondering brush set and if any effect layers were applied

Good call on the liquify, but some of the minor movements are the smudge tool also. :3
One of the brushes I used was from here (which thanks for saying something, because I downloaded these FOREVER ago and so I forgot to credit on this picture): [link]
I use it for a lot of things, not just blood. ;3 There's another brush over the top that was a fabric pattern, and a basic brush that a just fidgeted to do dots with.
As for layer effects, I had about...20 layers or so? So I had one normal, then multiply, linear burn, color burn, another normal for minor adjustments, linear light, hard light, soft light, overlay, back to multiply again, normal...etc. Just adjustments until I had what I wanted. The last layer that's the fabric brush I made, has a pillow emboss on it just very slightly, to make the image look a little painted.
I've been told I use too many layers, but hey, if it gets what you need, I say go for it! ^^

I can definitely recommend the upgrade--making and using brushes can make or break a piece. It's the difference between painting digitally and REALLY painting digitally. :3
That said, I still think what you can do with the tools you have are amazing! ^^ All the brushes in the world can't help if you don't know what to do with them!

This is the most incredible way I've ever seen this move portrayed. That water effect is unbeliavable. I'm blown away.

Thanks so much! I really wanted something kind of powerful, but beautiful. So I'm happy with how it turned out. ^^
