The loud humming of distant Nincadas rolled through the air as the sun began to sink toward the horizon on this warm afternoon. Sarge the Swampert snorted to himself approvingly as he sat in the shade of an oak tree, chewing on a toothpick. Today had been productive, running around the miles of obstacle course and whipping the new recruits into shape. Some were quick learners. Others...weren't. His job wasn't easy, but he took it in stride and made sure to make personal time for each wimpy, little maggot that fell behind on the track. He liked to hide behind some bushes or around a bend, waiting til the hapless patsy was in range, and then give them some "motivation" in the form of a Hydro Pump or Earthquake. He sometimes wished he knew how to operate one of those human camera contraptions, so he could preserve the looks of shock and terror and make a scrapbook out of them. He sat up as the familiar sound of running footsteps came into his ears; the heavy thumping of an overweight Pokemon and the pitter-patter of a young girl's bare feet. A couple of stragglers falling behind again. He grinned to himself as he got up and stretched, heading for the trees beside the path. Two more for the scrapbook...

Ah, sweet, little Noelle. I am going to have so much fun destroying your life seeing how this war will affect you. And Traum, go easy on the snacks, man.
