This is the first in a series of three paintings done for an Oz themed Show at the Alcove gallery in Atlanta. I kinda wanted to show the main characters returning to their old lives after Dororthy has gone back to Kansas, but mainly just to do my take on the characters and add a little humor. Hope you guys like 'em! Tried something a little different on these, I avoided the heavy outline after all the colors were done.Will the Lion allow him to pass? Will he think that a measly lollipop is enough of a toll to pass through his forest? It doesn't look good.

I wanted to make sure he had ENORMOUS paws and claws that could tear a man to shreds, and a look on his face that made you not quite sure if you were leaving his forest alive. Nice, happy stuff!

I think that the lion would look more intimidating if he didnt have the bow on his mane... But it adds character.

The original illustrations, and to a lesser degree the movies, had the bow there, and I thought it would make him look kinda silly, but at the same time when you get a look at those claws...
