I'm totally diggin' this, dude. There are enough pieces to the puzzle for anyone looking at it to make up their own story for what's happening. I have to say my favorite elements are the blood, her weapon, and the way you rendered her fur so that she looks... furry! So often you find creature/anthro art that has them looking shiny, like they have skin.
What program did you use? It really looks like a painting-painting, the only reason I know otherwise is because it's under "Digital Media".
And don't even get me started on art, summer-wise. I have like, 3 days to get one picture done before classes start, just to say I did SOMETHING, yanno? *grins* Good luck, and can't wait to see you around.

Oh wow, thanks!!! Besides not believing you are on DA now I can't believe you like it so much. Yeah, except for touch-ups the blood was my last element; totally worked over from my concept and original painting job. I even used some reference cuz I realized I knew nothing about how to make it awesome. And yes, her fur is fur not latex.
It was all done (except the sketch) in Photoshop Elements 4.0. I'm really starting to feel it's limitations now thanks to it's overly limited brush library.
Yeah, I had to finish it today. I'll be gone all this weekend up until school starts and I have a Star Fox DA contest piece I need done by the end of the month....

The blood really stands out with how it's rendered and the color. Very nice. :3 I showed it to a friend and even he commented on the awesome blood.
I've been fiddling around in Sai Painter myself. Haven't touched Photoshop in a long while, since I can ink/color/paint/shade in Sai. I find it's a nice mix between Photoshop and Open Canvas.
Ugh. I just had to undo all the shading attempts I made in my own picture. No matter what colors I choose, or how I position the shadows, it looks all wrong. *sighs* IAh well. But good luck on your contest piece! Can't wait to see it.
