Vision - I don't know whether this was intentional or not, but I really liked the irony. One of the key features of My Little Pony: Friendship is magic is that good beats evil using love. This comic, however, shows that evil sometimes wins using love and the terrible things done in the name of love. Queen Chrysalis began and ended with love.

Originality - This was a spin-off of a movie so it's not totally original. But, ever since "A Canterlot Wedding" was released; I have seen no comic or fan-fiction explain Chrysalis's origins.

I have also never seen a spin-off of "Hunchback of the Notre Dame"; though, I've never seen that either so how would I know?

People have been trying to justify Chrysalis's invasion with: "She was just trying to do the best thing for her people" But no-one ever thought that she got into that situation by doing the best thing for her people.

Technique - It is very easy to imagine this being an actual episode - art-style wise anyway. There are some brilliant parallels "A Canterlot Wedding": wide eyes opening in the sixth-to-last panel; the crown falling in the panel after that.

Text was used perfectly: nothing important was covered up; it wasn't over-used; the dialogue was exactly what would be said if it were in an episode.

Impact - I don't read very many serious comics because I get depressed afterwards. But this changed my attitude. I'm going to be reading a lot more serious comics because I have just been shown how great they can be.

Overall - Lovely comic and I can't wait to see more!

When it comes to the quality of the artwork, I have made it known many times that I give great credit to those who are able to make their art emulate the style and feel of the original source material. And this comic certainly does that as, through the use of vectors, the art style and images seem like something the show’s artists themselves might produce. However, the artist has made it clear that this comic is in fact a compilation of many separate images produced by several other artists, and as such they cannot receive all of the credit for it. Having said that though the imagery is still impressive and certainly not bad to look at, so at the very least it’s a goo-looking comic.

In addition to that, there is also the point that this comic is based on a pre-existing work, that being the Disney adaptation of “The hunchback of Notre Dame”. This, being one of my favourite films, obviously means I’m going to be somewhat biased. However, I do like this comic as it manages to successfully capture the feel of both the dark ton of the story as well as the dramatic imagery of the “Hellfire” song in particular. Overall, I’d say it’s very in-keeping with the feel of the source material.

Originality though is an area where the comic suffers. Like I said, this comic was based on a pre-existing work. And not only that, but the work it was based on was itself an adaptation of a story made by someone else. So it’s, in effect, an adaptation of an adaptation. But even if that wasn’t the case, I wouldn’t even be able to clam that it’s the first time I’ve seen this concept added to something MLP-related as I’ve seen this scenario of “Hellfire” played out with MLP characters by other artists. But, just because something’s been done before doesn’t mean it’s not good on it’s own merits, and this comic is certainly good in spite of all that.

All-in-all I’d say that this is a very good comic. While the art and story are not the best I’ve seen, it’s certainly a very good comic and you can tell that a lot of effort went into making it. It’s a worthy entry from the artist and more-than-worthy of being seen and appreciated by many.

Quite interesting and also sorrowful to see how my dear Chrysalis reacted to Her majestic transformation. Also I'd rather believe that She'd come from the Crystal Empire than Ponyville. Very nice arts though.

There's so much awesomeness int his. An origins comic for chrysalis is one thing but tying in the Hell Fire song makes it even better. It's a very interesting and possible idea that this could be how it happened. I've read one fanfiction where it explains that Chrysalis was created by Luna but Celestia got rid of Chrysalis because her very being was draining Luna, and getting rid of Chrysalis was wht turned Luna against Celestia and made Chrysalis into the dark Queen of the changelings. It was a good story but I think your comic right here is much more believable. GREAT JOB

This is amazing.
with this, i have changed my view of Chrysalis.
before she was just a villain with a stone cold heart that fed on the love of others.
now...with this...

...she is not a villain by choice...it is a curse.
one she bared for the ones she loved most, and now one she is forever doomed to bare.

She is as much a victim as everyone who has crossed her path as the Changeling Queen.
