i wanted to do it full size to begin with, but this is only... bout a foot and a half high? but hey, it countsi cant decide if i want to coat it in a different metal plating, like copper (which will turn green) or make it black, or any other metals. help me out

Just the steel it self is nice

i love the color now. when i did my first welding piece i thought i might want to coat it with a different color but i prefer the color and the feel of uncoated metal. especially with a piece like this where it is a powerful horse, coating it may make it more pretty and refined where as it is now, it is raw, wild, and honest. i say keep it as is, unless you do not want the viewer to feel the things i mentioned.

wow, now this is cool art! We never got to do anything this cool in my art class (but then again, it was Art 1 and I took it as a freshmen) I stopped taking art to avoid art history.

Thats talent and skill! Or maybe I just really suck at welding. I definitely couldnt do that with the welding skills I have. What type of welding did you use?

i used oxy-acetaline welding i do believe. im sure im not spelling that right... but yeah, i used a "pin and bend" technique for most of it; just attached the metal and then bent it the direction i needed to. i only used the ac/dc or whatever current welding for cutting out the big flat pieces, then attached them with oxy-acetaline. thanks for the respect

I love it. It looks just like it's frozen in time and will canter off any moment... and it's so beautifully stylised. *steals* If you're still thinking about plating it, I'd suggest bronze. It always seems so lovely and natural to me.
(Creepily, even though you don't know me, I know you. When by 'know' I mean Matt keeps on showing me piccys of you on his PSP and grinning lots and lots. Hopefully I'll get to meet you next time you're in England. ^^)

I happen to love it just the way it is. Of course, plating it in copper would look cool, too. I'm not too familiar with plating techniques, but if it got that green patina, or even if it stayed copper colored, it would look wonderful.

Hmm... it's hard to say because you can'y really see it against different lights and you move around it. I guessing green copper might be nice. I think black might be a bit much and you'd lose the definition a bit, as black is a kinda light-consuming colour, and this is a sculpture that looks well suited to exposing itself. But not too much, because then the outwardness could take away the wonderful feel of the bony structure. So yeah, thinking about it, copper green, or something of a similar brightness/starkness/saturation/shininess/whatever, would work well. A lot of my dad's work uses green copper, and it does look nice. You don't get much form lost in either too much brightness or too much darkness.
I hope that's helpful. It's hard to say exactly as I'm not in a position to see it in its entirety, but I get the feeling that green copper or something similar would work well

don't know what it should be coated in maybe the copper would be nice as it turns but over all it is a beautiful piece!
