I love it. It looks just like it's frozen in time and will canter off any moment... and it's so beautifully stylised. *steals* If you're still thinking about plating it, I'd suggest bronze. It always seems so lovely and natural to me.
(Creepily, even though you don't know me, I know you. When by 'know' I mean Matt keeps on showing me piccys of you on his PSP and grinning lots and lots. Hopefully I'll get to meet you next time you're in England. ^^)

I happen to love it just the way it is. Of course, plating it in copper would look cool, too. I'm not too familiar with plating techniques, but if it got that green patina, or even if it stayed copper colored, it would look wonderful.
