Description Since I got my pen pressure back I decided to celebrate with a purely digital drawn painting and despite the major flaws, I'm just happy I managed to draw what I really wanted. I have always had this love for pegasi swimming like swans ever since Disney's Fantasia (if you are one of those poor, depraved souls who have never had the fortune of seeing this movie, YOU NEED TO.) So of course, one day I thought of doing it for Celestia.

Despite my inexperience in digital execution, I feel I am working in my colors better. Fact is, this might have come off better if I had traditionally drawn it before digitally painting it, but practice makes perfect right?

Now as to the subject matter, Celestia here has pink hair. I am going off the headcanon (canon?) that Celestia grew up with pink hair and gained different streaks of color as she aged (or something). Unlike other ideas I support my artwork with, my ideas for Celestia are not as well researched or thought of. I am literally working off other headcanon depictions of Celestia that I am content with.

One of my problems with drawing purely digitally is the lineart. I cannot, for the life of me since I got my wacom some years ago, have never been comfortable with digitally inking. Perhaps my 4x6 drawing space on the wacom is too small? I have bad wrist movements and don't use my arm enough? Whatever the case is, lineart does not work for me unless it is made by a physical pencil. On another note, I am very happy with how her legs underwater came out and the water in general.

I think i need to purchase a color wheel, since my school's foundation classes were apparently a failure, but I will go into that in a journal.

Feel free to critique, hopefully you guys will say something i haven't already thought of after submitting it to DA.

The pink hair works because its a nice soft complement to the water's blue. I like the balance here!

I loved that Fantasia scene. Very reminescent of the white mother Pegasus. Of course, I do see the look everyone seems to be inclining she is giving to Discord.

Isn't fun how i don't have to really say anything and people just assumed that? XD Though I'm fine with it ~

I adore your Swanlestia!

Here is an uncesored clip from the Pastoral segment of Fantasia. The 'infamous" topless centaur scene seems rather innocent by modern sensabilities.

Oh, did they have to censor it afterwards? I don't remember them being completely topless? Then again, it's really not that explicit even when it's uncensored...I love centaurs so much and Fantasia is just amazing~ Thanks for sharing the clip!

I suspect the version I saw in the theaters yarens and yarens ago edited out one or two seconds of the centaur maidens leaving the lake topless, and transitioned directly to them wearing tops. Fantasia is indeed awesome. The critics hated it. One of my professors said that the term, "Yes, but is it art" was coined by a critic of Fantasia. Its funny, peeps credit Michel Nesmith of The Monkeys for inventing music videos, but isn't Fantasia a series of music videos?

If Duchamp's "Fountain" is considered art, then Fantasia certainly is! Thankfully still a lot of people loved it! Synchronizing so much audio and animation together was no easy task lol and I'm not sure of the work for The Monkeys...I would consider music videos bits of movies edited to play with music, Fantasia is a full-length animation I would think.

This is amazing I've always wanted to draw something inspired by Fantasia as well. I think that's what triggered my whole pegasus obsession to start off with Love the idea for Celestia's hair too - it all fits in nicely. She looks gorgeous.

Now that I'm older I can really appreciate the non-equine animations in Fantasia and Fantasia 2000, but I still favor the pegasi!

Fantasia's "mythology" section -- which I cannot remember the name of for the life of me -- is still one of my favorite animated moments.

I think everything here is really clear and I definitely love the idea. Ah, and I just noticed you can see her hooves under the water, so cute!

The mythology segment of Fantasia was named after the music used, Beethoven’s sixth symphony, the Pastoral.

But since they ARE underwater, it makes sense for them to be hard to see.
