He grinned at her slightly.
"Good, then you better hang on." He took both of her arms, maneuvering them so one was draped around his neck, the other around his waist. He used his own hands on her hips, hitching her up so she would be safe while they flew. He made sure she was steady, and with a sigh began to beat the tattered wings in the silent air.
They rose slowly, if not steadily off the ground, the trees growing smaller and more distant as they rose into the sky. He enjoyed doing this, and wondered if she did as well, the view was something spectacular, the ground a sea of smoke-like mist and beat up trees.

Kimba let Damon maneuver her as he needed to but by the time they were airborne, the soft beating of his wings was the only distraction she could get from shaking. Her eyes were shut tight on takeoff- it wasn't like riding the mountain vulture. She was close to another *person* this time. Kimba didn't even have any idea if she was shaking from excitement at flying or fright at being so close to someone else. Eventually the curiosity got the better of her and she abandoned the safety of Damon's neck to look below, and the sight took her breath away. The dreamy mist rolled through the trees like a low fog, leaving their dark green tips available like a giant mountain range.
