Description
The Turkish Abductions were a series of raids by the Barbary pirates from the Ottoman Empire on Vestmannaeyjar, Austfirðir, and Grindavík. Hundreds of Icelanders were taken and enslaved, around 30 others were killed, including one of my then ministers. I don't exactly like recalling this.((I love how Himaruya portrays Iceland... but some parts of his portrayal irk me. Why would he have Iceland be friendly towards Turkey when they have pretty much no foreign relations, not to mention these raids? Therefore, I see Iceland calling Turkey "Pops" as more of a stealth insult. In other words, calling him an old man.))
