Description Initial idea came from a conversation had at Uni a few weeks ago.  Started playing around with it and was inspired in by nebezial and his characters in Ravine in particular.  Tried to draw from that to put together an armour that was functional but also attractive without being hyper sexualised.  Not an easy task by any means.

Armour is composed of 7 different sets and yes, it was a nightmare getting them all to fit together in something resembling a believable way.

I also went very large with this render, wanted to work at an "epic scale" for a change as well.

As always, thanks for dropping by.

I like the tight vertical cropping. Adds a bit more of the distinctive to that which is already there.

The armor, of course, is the bomb (or bombproof, as the case may be).

Sweet stuff, A.

Thanks mate.  I thought the change in aspect ratio worked well here, much better than the usual 4:3 you see normally.

Hahaha.  Not sure if the armour would be bomb proof, but I'm sure it can take a battering, provided you can get close enough to actually land a hit on it, that Naginata has a heck of a reach on it.

Thank you.  To say it was an epic to put together does it a dis-service.  The outfit took forever to get right.

The pose wasn't too bad - I was able to get the weight displacement right pretty quickly - thank god for the life drawing class I had to take at Uni this year.

Well worth the effort, I think. During my 3D classes I could never things to look this natural, no matter how long I took.

Thank you.  If only it was one set, it would have been much easier to get everything to fit.  lol.

Getting hair to sit right is probably the bane of our artistic existence at times.  It can be such a frustrating thing, but stick with it.  Eventually you get passed that hurdle and then you encounter the next one on your journey of artistic and technical growth.

Thanks Ruth.  The hardest part was getting the right look for the armour AND getting all the pieces to fit together in a way that looked right.  Very time consuming.

I believe you, i go crazy every time to set collisions properly and shadows, putting together a scene often requires days and days.   It's consuming, but worthy.

Ascavilya In reply to Grim-Red [2014-05-31 13:40:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh god yes, collisions are a right royal pain.  You set it all up, then tweak the pose a little and all of a sudden you get some massive deformation that wasn't there before, I hate that.
