Awesome work man!Β
How you, concept artists, come up with so many variations and elements to compose your designs? When I try to create a character it usually looks very simple. like this: timvithor.deviantart.com/art/Sβ¦
You could do some "Advanced character design" class in Skillshare. I would definetly try it.
Anyway, keep the good job.

Dig up a lot of reference material, it will keep giving you ideas even after you think you have run out.

Do you do some research before making the designs? Or do you just work by scratch?

Wow, I really like how you have drawn his "wings" The clothing reference is also really nice and interesting to look at. Say, how much time do you need for designing one type of cloth on these sheets of you? Would be interesting to know.

Doing one of these design pages will average two days I think?

Is the bottom-right sword design concept art based off of the manga Ragnarok?

my immediate first thought was Trogdor the dragon man (burninating the village side)
great composition and flow to him.

nise, enjoying the design, im not a big fan of how the tail is over the weapon's and they fade off, it's kinda of distracting, but it could just as well be me

HAve you considered doing a step by step of one of these? I really love the way you have the progression, but I'm curious on how you did the whole thing. Do you start with the first image, and just copy it 12 times and just make changes until you get to the one you have as the larger pic? They're just amazing.

arvalis In reply to BillyJ [2012-11-07 21:38:55 +0000 UTC]
Yeah that's basically it. I start with a nude base that I like, then duplicate it and draw outfits over it. It's all about experimenting with design ideas to get to the one that really clicks.

shudra are the lowest caste in the indian caste system, they're peasants, i was just thinking the armor had an indian style, but the metal parts looked like they might be some sort of standard issue gear, hence shudra armor
