Actually T. rex is inaccurate. Lose the feathers, make it scarier and stand bipedal, Jurassic Park style

Umm... I don't remember the teachers last name but we were supposed to call him Tut, it was at a Paleobiology CTY camp last summer; not sure what his real name was... Sorry but having Tut as our teacher was lots of fun!

What's with the rex cheeks?

it almost looks like the trex has, for lack of a better term, cheeks. I understand dakotaraptor as it's maniraptor, but not trex as te connect to birds is a bit more distant than dromaeosaurids.

Hello? Any update on the T.rex cheeks? I'd like to know the scientific reasoning behind it.

The group of dinos knows as the tyrannosaurs are known for their birdlike anatomy and feathered fossils, but it was more like hair. In different parts of the world, they may have adapted differently, so it really depends on where this game takes place, which I'm pretty sure it takes place in Hell Creek. It's believed that T-rex had hair like feathers and patches of scaly skin, but it's not confirmed yet. Hope that clears up a few things

kind of. A little late though and was more interested on the oral skin coverings rather than feathers.

it was previously assumed by default due to a relation with Dilong and Yutyrannus, but with the new information it's safe to say it was probably featherless

There is nowhere near enough evidence for either side at this point.

TrilobiteCannibal In reply to Migatte [2018-02-12 05:25:46 +0000 UTC]
yes, but the uniformity of the scale texture seems to imply it was more or less featherless, maybe a very small patch on the back would be possible, and it might've had very sparse bodily filaments. I'm just going with featherless for now since that little patch wouldn't have served much purpose outside of possibly display

Saurian... YES! I love the game. Probably the most detailed Dinosaur game I've played. The Isle is also a good one, but nowhere near this quality.
Edit: Wait YOU MADE THE GAME!? WOW!

Many close relatives of the Tyrannosaurus Rex have been found to be feathered to at least some degree, and with Paleontology we can use this to guess that the king of beasts would have, too. It's usually worked out in a sense that- 'This dinosaur is in the same family tree and closely related to other species which have had feathers, so they definitely had feathers too unless it's proven that they didn't.' While this way of thought isn't perfect, it's what people have used for a long time, and so far it's been proven to be rather successful. AKA, good guess. Hope this clears it up!
