You'd think that going crazy on backgrounds when you're already late is a bad idea. ...And you would be absolutetly right. I've got nothing to add to that, except maybe that if I'm going to be late anyways, I'd at least like to produce quality work
I changed America's line in the first panel a bit; I couldn't get "It's really here! Awesome!" to look neatly spaced out, changed it to "tight" just to make myself laugh (you just gotta do that sometimes) and liked it so much that I kept it lol

When I first saw this, I thought it was the first page of the comic that I'd somehow forgotten to favorite ^^0 Then I read it and I'm like "oooooh..." XD

It does look really different with that black background! When I saved the finished page, I thought I had picked the wrong folder at first, because it looked so weird in between all the white pages x)

I think this is my favorite comic that you've made so far! Getting the obligatory critique out of the way, having the dream lines overlapping China's face looks weird, and America and France's speech bubbles are shaped a bit too much like thought bubbles, I think. Also for some reason, one of Japan's flashback text bubbles doesn't overlap the panels while all the others do. But other than those nitpicks, this is absolutely fantastic. I adore the detailed backgrounds, they really add a lot that the original game couldn't really make due to the software limitations, but it makes total sense for this hellhole to be in the middle of the woods! Out of everyone, I'd say France is definitely my favorite. While everyone is vibrant and expressive (especially America and Japan), France has such a laid-back yet stylish posture, and it works really well! Some of your best work! You're improving by the page!

Thank you!! You're right about the lines, it looks a bit weird... I still want them to overlap everything except Present-Japan's thoughts, because to me they signify that the memory as a whole is flashing past, but the next time they overlap a face I'll make them a bit ligher - that might help. As for the text bubbles, I use the cloudy ones as an in-between, between the regular bubbles, and the spiky ones, that look too much like actual screeming to me, which wouldn't really fit in this context. I guess we'll have to chalk that one up to personal taste
