Обожаю его работу!
Что обидно так это то что Пикасо например, всегда рисовал ободки чёрным, не разбираясь особо, его знают во всём мире; а Билибин подбирал каждый цвет контуров так что-бы вся картина читалась, а знаменит только в России... да ему надо было памятник при жизни ставить!
Плюс у него очень красочные и красивые картины с эстетической стороны.

This was before the hardships of the world slammed my spirit down!
Kidding, I love that painting! It's hanging in the living room.
But yeah, the style was created in the late 19th Century to specifically illustrate Russian folk tales!
It originated from Russian (or Slav) icons, but you wouldn't see many similarities nowadays.
