"There are lots of dogs on Uncle Rover's movies." Tom pointed to Rover's chest. "Like Lassie. I like Lassie. He keeps them on a necklace"

Rover looked up at the mention of Lassie and he saw Tom pointing. He pulled the little chain out, and the little chip that hung from it. "How did you know?"

"I told you. You're my Uncle Rover. We watch Lassie all the time."

"What's Lassie?" Asked Pie.

"What's that?" Asked the Edsels, all gesturing toward the pendent.

"Lassie is a dog. She's really smart too!" Tom explained. "Show them, Uncle Rover!"

A huge smile grew on Rover's face. "Okay!" He reached back and unhooked the chain as he ran over and hopped up onto the huge, comfy couch. He set the little device on the arm, and a screen projected itself into the air a few feet in front of him. In moments there was a low whistle and the sound of a boy shouting "Laaasssie!" On the holo screen, a silky-looking dog ran home.

Rover and Tom belong to chill13 , Pie and the Edsels belong to me. This is from an RP we're doing, so we both wrote for our respective characters.

Rover is currently experiencing periodic glitches from the metal plate in his head, which cause him to zap back mentally into his ten-year-old self for a while. To make this a bit less weird for everyone around him, he's got a holographic cloaking device to make him look and sound like his childhood self when this happens, which is how he could look like this during this scene. Yay! Kid Rover finally gets to hang out with some humans! Sort of! For those who don't know, Rover was "shipwrecked" on an alien planet in an escape pod as a child, and sustained such serious injuries that he retained no memory of his life up until that point. He didn't remember his ship, his family, or even any details about humans. All he has is what they found in the escape pod with him: a cowboy hat, and a flash-drive with every imaginable Western (as in, cowboys) movie and song. As a result, he grew up thinking that those Westerns encompassed the whole of Human culture and history. He's spent his whole life since then trying to be the best Human (meaning, cowboy) he can be.
