Description
“Found it!” Hugh shouted, snatching up the currency marble from where it had rolled, several meters from his original spot. He sighed with relief. “Must have flown through the air when I took my tumble.”
"You found it!" Rover gave a little yip of delight and held his hand out.
Flyspur let out a chuff of relief and stood back up. "I should call the children again. If we are moving, I don't want them sitting here waiting for us if they are sending someone through." He shook his head. "I just need to get them to go back. I should have just told them everything was fine. I can't believe they are coming down here."
"Well, call as we move, Partner. We need to get us away from that hole in the wall." Rover patted him on the shoulder, shone his light ahead and started marching further into the tunnel.
Flyspur pressed the panel to call Tertio.
Hugh went to pass the marble to Rover, when something whipped out of the darkness and snatched it away.
“What in the--” He stared at his suddenly empty hand, then all around, trying to see what had happened.
They heard an eerie laugh that seemed to surround them. “Paaaymennnt.” The voice hissed.
Rover flashed his light around the space, trying to locate the source of the voice, but couldn’t find anyone.
“Cyyyborrrg... Youuu should be deeeaaad. But nowww you’re wanted aliiive... All threeeee, wanted aliiive...” It sounded a little disappointed. “Stillll, I like a chaaase.”
Something squirted out of the darkness, and suddenly Rover’s metal arm was covered in a thick, gummy gel of some sort, which quickly solidified into a sturdy rubber.
“Eeeven playing fieeeld.” The voice laughed. “I’llll give you a headstaaart... Now, RUN!”
...
“Wait, Flyspur’s calling!” Tertio said, bringing up his wrist to answer.
“We’re not stopping, you can answer while we go!” Said Kessie without turning around.
“Right.” He tapped the answer button. He was a little worried about Flyspur being angry with them, but his concern for their welfare was stronger than that fear. He put on a calm, determined face for the camera as the connection came through. “Flyspur?”
...
Rover couldn't hold back a small squawk of surprise as the goo came absolutely out of nowhere. He instantly tried to pull it off and tried moving his left arm experimentally. But even while doing this he didn't miss a beat. This was a hunter, clear as day. And they were good at their jobs. "Well, that is some kind of stuff there. Is it a weapon, or biological? Now, I know the Boss has a little misunderstanding with me. But that ain't no reason there's got to be bad blood between us, Friend."
The instant Tertio answered, Flyspur smacked his tablet to mute and hid the video. He pulled his tablet close to his chest as if trying to use it as a shield against whatever evil lurked in the darkness. But he was really using the tablet itself to hide his tapping lower hands, sending Tertio a text message. "Circumstances have changed. We don't need your help. Can you pick up a bag of kira nuts for Nana? She needs them now. Right now. Please? Now."
Try as he might, Rover couldn’t get the rubber off his arm. It was stuck in place- Elbow entirely gummed up, and tip stuck as a flashlight. At least he could still move his shoulder joint.
“Tiiick-toccck!” The voice said, almost gleefully. “One miiinute, or I staaart collecting you heeere.”
...
“‘Circumstances have changed... We don’t need your help... Can you pick up a bag of kira nuts for Nana?... She needs them now. Right now. Please? Now.’” Tertio finished reading and looked up with an incredulous expression on his underlit face.
“Sounds like we need to turn around and go get some kira nuts!” Kessie said, forging on through the dark without faltering.
Tertio shook his head. “I wish he could just trust us... But I guess that sort of thing takes time.”
“Write back. Tell him Nana already told us to pick up two humans and a jssfloon, so we have to run that errand first.”
“He sounds really urgent at the end, though. Do you think something has changed?”
“Well, if it’s the Mafia we’re dealing with, they’re unlikely to let them go this easily... They might have sent someone into the cracks after them. Ugh, I hope not...” She was silent for a few moments before continuing. “But, that would just mean that they need our help even more now.”

Oh dear.
This bit continues on with the episode referenced in this pic.
Flyspur's wearing a different outfit! chill13 and I were talking about how he needed a bigger wardrobe, especially for when he's in non-tropical climes- like an auction in the criminal underbelly of an asteroid market hub, for instance. Warm clothes and fingerless gloves also come in handy when you find yourself hiding out in the dark and cavernous cracks of said asteroid hub.
This is another snippet of the RP that chill13 and I are doing with our two sets of original characters. Kessie, Tertio, Hugh and the creepy hunter are my characters, so I wrote for them. Rover and Flyspur are her characters, so she wrote for them.
