i am genuinely shocked - and that is a very good thing! i just looked (kind of creepily?) through your deviantart, and the amount you improved is absolutely astonishing. especially between 2012 and 2013, you had one of the biggest improvements i have ever seen in a single year. like holy shit, your art skyrocketed so quick, you must have put so much effort into your art because my god, that improvement was huge. your art is just so inspiring and genuinely fascinating!

Ugh, isn't it the worst? TT_TT I just hop over to a different medium or hobby when that happens, work on my ukulele skills, I actually started sculpting prosthetics and casting them and stuff, doing spfx makeup, it's been fun to switch things up.

I used your tutorial for practice!
For the first one, I used orange as a brighter complimentary color, but I thought it might be the wrong choice, so I picked a reddish color for the second one. I didn't use any references for lighting except for your tutorial and a little sun in the upper left corner lol.
I accidentally combined my lineart and color layer then saved it, so the second one has red painted over the orange a little bit, and is kind of messy. Also because of all this I just didn't work on the background. I'll be doing many more practice sketches like these though c:
