woooooww I'm speechless. Actually I was thinking about drawing this Picture aswell, because I'm a big fan of Daniel Craig and especially this movie. But now, that I have seen your version of it, IΒ don't think that I will have enough courage to draw it. You're a genius!!! this is absolutely amazing!!!

So many people have drawn this picture now, it's almost not worth it. But the contrast and detail made for a fun challenge. And something about Daniel Craig's face is inherently drawable, as I think you know Thanks for the kind words!

how did you use the knife?

ArtOfApollo In reply to parameg [2014-07-21 14:29:41 +0000 UTC]

Trying to remember...I always use a knife to slice my eraser into a sharp point, allowing me to do fine hairs. But in this one, I think I only used said eraser on Lisbeth's hair.

For Mikael, I did experiment with using the knife directly on his hair. So for the thin streaks in his hair, and also some of his beard, I nicked the paper with a Stanley knife, and then shaded over top. This left me with thin white lines where graphite didn't reach.

I don't use this technique often these days. I prefer shading the area first and erasing the white streaks. But you can get some pretty cool effects with a knife
