Description This was a black & white commission I did for a fan-produced supplement for the SLA Industries RPG a while back. I've waited this long to see if the supplement got picked up, but it's been months since I heard anything from anyone so I figure even if it did get used, they stiffed me for the paycheque, so it's only fair that I get to show the pic. The book was to be split into in-game reference and background (front) and GM section/game stats (back). I think they were gonna print it flip-style, but I wasn't kept terribly informed of the plans. Anyway, this piece was for the front cover. The background had to be kept uncluttered to allow space for text. I'd originally started it in colour, but it turned out they wanted b&w, which obviously made the whole thing a whole lot easier. Hopefully I'll get around to finishing the colour version someday, though.

Original rough drawing done a helluva long time ago (maybe about '93/94), scanned & totally redone in photoshop. I should really try some more b&w stuff sometime - I quite enjoyed working on this. O, and this is only 25% of the original size - it's a biggie!

The whole thing's done digitally. Well, everything you can see, anyway. The original drawing was on paper, but there's nothing visible of it left, other than the general pose. But I take your comment wholly as a compliment - if I can get digital work looking like real media, then I'm onn the right track (at last!)

cheers!

hehe - that has more to do with working to a tight deadline than any concious style choice!
