regardless of whether or not she is able to regenerate, itβs gotta be a little traumatic to see your bird mom get stabbed through the chest. He canonically had flashbacks about it. I know this is way back in the beginning of season one but I canβt stop thinking about it I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT BIRD MOMthis took ages but mostly because I picked at it between commissions but also because COLORED LINEART. It's a different style but I like the feel of it for Steven Universe stuff, I think. I don't know if I'd like it with my usual stuff. I'll have to try it haha.

Very well done. To be honest, I was avoiding this show for the longest time, I don't even know why. And then I decided to watch just one episode, to prove to myself that all this nonsense about it being crazy popular was totally blown out of proportions and... I haven't stopped watching it since, every time I get the chance. I'm 27, dammit! How am I this hooked?!Β

This, Amethystβs gem getting crack, Garnet getting split apart, and Lapis fusing with a maniac and then imprisoning herself at the bottom of the ocean. Iβm surprised that Steven isnβt servilely traumatised at this point.

not to mention him seeing all those stevens die all around him in "steven and the steven's". (rewatch the scene, it's pretty traumatising) and the scary world of fusion (i.e. Sugilite, Stevonnie, cluster experiments)

Yeah, Steven has seen a lot of messed upped stuff for a kid his age. I was just pointing out the times where heβs witnessed someone he knows and loves get severely hurt or put in danger.
Seeing Pearl get stabbed was the first time Steven had ever witnessed a Gem be mortally wounded. Steven didnβt know she would be alright. And he might have blamed himself for letting it happen in the first place because he distracted her.
Seeing Amethyst basically start to βglitchβ out of existence was probably scary for Steven. And feeling completely hopeless and useless because he felt he was the only one who could save her but just couldnβt.
Seeing someone so strong like Garnet be so easily defeated was pretty shocking. The look on her face while being defused was really horrific. Not to mention it all quickly happened during an alien invasion.
And poor Lapis, a character he still barely even knows, willing to re-imprison herself in order to keep him safe. Not to mention all the mental and emotional damage and pain that might be caused by being fused like that.
