lovely design. I keep trying to follow the pattern and getting lost at the crossings. 
Is it freehand or did you base it on a grid? (The overall shape looks geometrically perfect, but the loops themselves seem more organic.)

Very accurate observations all around
I did use a Photoshop program to create a Geometrically perfect shape. Then I used a Combination of Grid Structure and Freehand design to create the piece.
