Description Seriously.
Yes I support them, but people need to just shut up. Your sexuality is not the most important thing in life.

Such support!!

Uh, you do know it has to be discussed for progress to happen, right?

I do as well but I like to discuss other things rather then a person's orientation. There's more to people then just what sexuality you are And they aren't the only ones who get picked on unfortunately everyone on Earth gets picked on for something about themselves. I know many people who preach about tolerance and acceptance but they don't follow what they preach -__- Quite sad really.

I do hate how over-exaggerated it's become. I totally think that gay people deserve the same rights as everyone else. However, I hate how big the whole "You don't know how hard it is to be gay do you know how many suicides happen from rejection of being gay bla bla bla"
Yes, it's sad that people are picked on for being gay, but EVERYONE gets picked on, not just gay kids. It's hard to be YOURSELF, no matter who you are, because someone is always going to judge you for something. Suicide is a terrible terrible thing, and as shocking as it may be, not only gay people do it.
I have an Aunt who is a gay rights activist, and she openly bashes Christianity by desecrating churches and picketing on or by church property. She then posts the pics on facebook spreading her "longing for acceptance" (yeah, acceptance for you, not Christians). Those pics really hurt me, because I'm a Christian, but I'm also am platonically bisexual. My Aunt doesn't know anything about me though other then I'm Christian, and when I expressed my hurt for her actions she said (and I quote) "Well, (you're) just gonna wake up in your happy little bed and go about your happy, sheltered little life while there are GAY KIDS OUT THERE KILLING THEMSELVES!!!"
May I add that my Aunt lives in Utah while I lived in South Dakota. I hadn't seen her since I was a child, and yet somehow she knew everything about me. She just knew that I had no problems, because I'm straight. And straight people don't feel, do they?
Wow, that turned into quiet the rant. At any rate, I totally support this. Thanks for making this stamp.

A rant with a good point Acceptance has to go two ways, as in, Christians have to respect gays (which to be honest, they do) but at the same time, gays got to respect that some Christians are uncomfortable around them. It's not fair to hammer them just cause they're not comfortable, right?

It's just how I feel about the whole situation. I don't care if you're homo/bisexual, just quite rubbing it into my face... =/

The only problem is, there are those who actually think that OTHER people's sexuality is the most damn important thing about them, for some reason. These people... they piss me off. Gay rights should be discussed/debated where they are intended to be. I've seen people start random arguements for no apparent reason.
"Let me guess, you hate gays too!"
"We're talking about vegetarians here, where the hell did that come from?"

ARTic-Weather In reply to DaGrox94 [2010-11-24 11:09:45 +0000 UTC]

This.
I agree there. I mean, there's a time and a place to debate the gay rights stuff, and every second of every day is not the time.

It's funny how many people are still completely on about gay rights like it's back in the 80s or something. Gay marriage is coming along [in the US] and with a few more pushes IRL it'll be in place. But seriously, people have better things to discuss on the internet than ~how gays need more rights~

Women and transpeople of any gender have way worse rights than men in this world; I think that taking care of that is a little more important ATM than having 'pride' over something I did nothing to attain :/

ARTic-Weather In reply to NMNA [2010-11-24 11:15:48 +0000 UTC]

It's silly I think. Why keep going on about an issue nearly solved when there's so much more that needs solving? :/

I AGREE SO MUCH WITH THE ABOVE COMMENT. Cholera in Haiti? South Korea getting bombed? Nope, two guys can't get married so let's bitch about that some more.

I know that a lot more CAN be done as far as gay rights, and a lot more NEEDS to be done [fuck, in Africa where some places have the death penalty for 'alleged' homosexuality, that's just ridiculous]. But there's a time and place for bitching about issues like that, it shouldn't be an every day sort of complaint IMO.

Things like that DADT repeal that was proposed [and passed, but...rather unsuccessfully] here in the US. Very few people actually looked into what it would mean, and how it would be a good thing for LGBT soldiers. :/

I have a friend who's very into gay rights and the like, who said that DADT should stay in place because he saw a tweet Lady Gaga made misquoting part of the bill. Um.

ARTic-Weather In reply to NMNA [2010-11-25 14:31:50 +0000 UTC]

Apologies for seeming dumb but, what's DADT? XD

NMNA In reply to ARTic-Weather [2010-11-25 23:41:50 +0000 UTC]

You're not dumb at all! I know you're not in America at all and it's just an American issue.

DADT = 'don't ask don't tell', an Army law that made it legal to fire soldiers if they admitted to being gay/bisexual/anything but straight. It also made it illegal to ask about another soldier's sexuality. It's still sort of in practice.

ARTic-Weather In reply to NMNA [2010-11-25 23:44:12 +0000 UTC]

That's kind of a weird system, but I guess it would work in some ways. A bit harsh though :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NMNA In reply to ARTic-Weather [2010-11-25 23:47:03 +0000 UTC]

It would have worked, but there were many ways to get around not 'asking', for example there were instances in which an officer could look into a soldier's family situation under the tables and fire them for having a civil partnership. There was no compensation either; men and women who bravely served America were just discharged without pay.

ARTic-Weather In reply to NMNA [2010-11-26 00:09:01 +0000 UTC]

That isn't fair at all :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NMNA In reply to ARTic-Weather [2010-11-26 00:12:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. It's something that to me is important to end, because it does victimize any non-straight American soldier.

Lady Gaga apparently tweeted something about the issue, but made it seem like DADT was a good thing which confused a lot of people [and started off my friend's argument]. She later apologized + corrected herself but I think for a lot of non-US gay activists the damage was done. >_>
