More domesticated animal life from the Arcane Mars setting:

A ngafa; the martian equivalent of a warhorse. The ngafa is very large, strong, and brave in battle. They are able to rear up and walk about very slowly on their hind legs, swinging with their massive claws like a grizzly bear. These traits, combined with their high rate of trainability and loyalty make them ideal as a war-mount. It also makes up for the fact that they are not the fastest mounts on Mars, nor does their rolling, knuckle-walking lope provide for a very smooth ride.

I'm pretty pleased with the way this one came out, including my experiment with creating a "Martian-Nouveau" border. Adding more border and design elements seems to help add the right flavor to the setting--something I'll probably keep playing with in the Arcane Mars project. For anyone interested, the ngafa is based loosely on an extinct group of ungulate mammals called chalicotheres, which died out (on Earth, at least) almost 800,000 years ago.
