Description
This is a couple of drawings from the coffe house I frequent. Drawing of my friend eating a sandwich. Very mixed media on this one. Multiple colors of marker and pen, watercolor, digital watercolor, digital lineart, superimposed texture... the works.Also, I totally cheated on those coffee cups. It's the same cup all three times. Go Go lazy illustrator powers.

The guy who's coffee shop I did it for, We'll call him "E"... he actually wanted some fliers made up from it. Ended up never printing them for some reason.

Yeah... it's that feel that's been the hardest to recreate in future peices. I've tried several times but never managed to get it again. Will have to be a focus of future work I suppose. Thanks for the comment!

Why thank you! Funny fact, in elementary school I used to be that kid who had to turn everything in typed because my handwriting was illegible.

Very nice sketches! I like the colors and swirly text. The way you went into details with the couch is very lovlely. Gesture on the figure is nice she really feels like she's reclining on the couch.

Mr. Ean you need to go and sit down every day and draw 5 hands. It helps!!! It's how i leared and they are still hard.

And you're totally right. my hands are terrible. I'm acutally in the middle of a figure-drawing refresher and in light of this I'm gonna go onto hands this week. Probably gonna take a few more than 5 to get me out of my rut, tho.

They're the first thing I drew for this project too. I was just crashed out at E's and doodled my cup of tea... never occurred to me that they would be useable for the final project.

You should create a version of this as an advertisement for E. I think it would work well. Overall it came out fantastic, although I think the boundary between where it says three cups and the blue of the second image is a bit too harsh for the soft theme you have going on. Its also very apparent down and a little to the left of that too where the chair is overlapped. I think just a little bit of feathering would do the trick

Also, something I noticed when it was smaller, the couch on the bottom is actually higher contrast and stands out more, where the couch on the top appears to be much more subdued, also the figure seems to blend into the background of the couch. Unless it was intentional, I don't feel its fitting with your theme of the character being more important. If she is the focus I would think that she would be the visual focal point. So there, thats what you damn well get when you ask for an advanced critique. hehe

yeah, you've got a point. I'll mess with the contrast levels in the first image and try to pull her out more... and for the soft thing, it's really unresolved. It was basically a 2AM decision gone right. Wasn't even sure if it was working out.
