The message was quite clear; I was intruding on a very personal moment... "sod off - I am with my Nan" - so I did....

It can be tricky - and I tried my best to disguise what I was doing - but he was one smart (and cool!) young man!
And yes, there is certainly some humour in this shot - although I must be careful as there are legal issues about this in Portugal

I mean that, although he wanted to show his displeasure at me taking a shot of hime and his grandmother, he was calm and subtle enough to hid his gesture and annoyance from her - her pleasure was his prime focus.. I admired that! π

I was "put right" by a friend yesterday... Apparently I could now be arrested and taken to court for photographing people without their consent! There is some debate about my shot as it does not identify them (I did not capture their faces) but this will give a lot of "street" photographers some issues here in Portugal...

It's such a shame really Mal! Β Some of the best pics are those of people in moments of happiness, grief, excitement etc and they are always innocent shots just capturing the beauty and emotions of people in the moment. Β I'm quite camera shy myself but I would be so humbled if a photographer took a pic of me for artistic reasons!

Agreed! I use a gym with a swimming pool - no monitoring, so I asked why they did not install a CCTV camera so that the pool area (and gym) can be checked from the reception desk - in case of accidents, heart attack etc.. The answer? "The law does not allow us to have cameras in such areas due to privacy rules!" Now, I can understand that in the changing rooms and showers... but in the pool and gym? These could "literally" be life savers - yes indeed PC gone mad!!

He had every right!! I saw them entering the castle - and he was so attentive... I was in awe! I wanted to capture this "loving connection" but I was wrong to intrude on their personal time... He was physically protecting her in every way he could - I was (in some way) a "voyeur" who had not asked permission.... I wish I had

I have achieved the same effect when out with my daughter and someone has approached by meeting them squarely in the eye and raising all five fingers .

He made the sign in such a way that his grandma was not even aware of it... I appreciated his thoughtfulness
