Thanks so much.

There are no words for how amazing this is so here's a symphony of me bashing my face on my keyboard (gently mind, I have a low pain threshold).
Okay, here we go: 67yu6thyjtyythdfrbnvgh
The shading and the bow and everything is just awesome. Good luck, my friend!

Hahaha

Thanks for that, it does kind of make the work I did on that piece less painful to think about.

Heheh It looks like it took a lot of hard work but it definitely paid off.

Thank you.

I'm much better at making backgrounds now, I actually find it really fun and relaxing, thanks to the beauty of brushes. Thank God I finally figured that out or I would have been stunted forever.

I'd love to be good at making backgrounds. I have an unending appreciation for landscapes so it's something I'd really like to learn... and kind of need to learn for the animation project I'm doing next year.

The variety of brushes you can get are pretty stunning so that when you find the right ones, you're set.
It's great that you enjoy making backgrounds now.

Me too. Landscapes and trees are my favorite, cause there so non-uniform, you can make a bunch of crazy shapes and eventually it will look right.

If you want I can give you a link for some really great nature and landscape brushes. They helped me have an easier time making nature stuff, maybe they'll do the same for you.

I unfortunately have no advice for traditional landscape painting though.

I agree. I went a little brush-downloading crazy when I found out how. But like you said, I found the right ones and have stuck with them.

They are great! I'm glad somebody else appreciates trees like I do!
And yeah, I'd love that link. It could be really useful when I get to doing landscape settings.
Don't worry about advice for traditional landscape painting. I can't paint so... No, seriously, I'm really bad at it. I'm only just competent with watercolour and please let us not talk about acrylic. *sits in corner and cries from painful acrylic related memories*
I went and downloaded some for Paint Tool Sai along with some surface textures and things and it's really cool. I love how you can just download the brushes and have such a huge variety waiting for you on your program.

Okay, these are the links. :] .tanathe.deviantart.com/art/tan... tanathe.deviantart.com/art/Spe... But the brushes are for Photoshop so maybe you can just switch programs when you do backgrounds or something. The tutorial is also for Photoshop, unfortunately, but I 'm sure you can still apply what it teaches in any program you use.

I don't have any acrylic experiences Cause I've never used them before. I don't even know what they look like.

It must have been a really bad experience if it made you afraid of using them ever again.

I like watercolor painting quite a bit though.

Thank you, my friend. Those brushes look fantastic. And no worries in regards to is being Photoshop. I tend to use it as well as Sai anyway. The main problem is the lag that haunts me when I use it. The tutorial is really helpful too. I very much appreciate your help.

Acrylic is overrated anyway...Β  It's sticky, doesn't wash out and ruins your school uniform and then your mum's mad because that blazer alone costs like Β£60 and then you realise that it's on your jumper too so then your mum's even more annoyed 'cus she has to fork out an extra Β£20 for something that really ought to cost Β£5 and she's giving you this look like you need to get a job and start paying for that stuff for yourself otherwise she'll throw you out but you're socially inept and really don't want a job so... you just stop using acrylic because it will ruin your life.
True story.

Watercolour is nice though. It's become one of my favourites.

Hmm, the lag. I've had that happen to me from time to time, but not very much cause I use the big computer.Β

Aaw, I'm glad I could be a help.Β I'm even more glad that you like them and used them so quickly.Β Finally, I'm useful.

Oh my God, is that what happened to you? No wonder you don't likeΒ acrylicΒ  paint.

Mom's, right? They wish you would get a life and a job. But as soon as you do they want you to move back home with them.

Same here. Although I prefer to use digital methods for coloring. Β But drawing is straight-up traditional for me. I can barely make chicken scratch when I draw digitally.

My laptop completely flips out on me sometimes when I use Photoshop. I've lost a couple of things because of it crashing so I'm pretty wary of it. It's a really great program though. I use it mostly for my backgrounds now.

I can't thank you enough for showing me them!

Yeah. It was a really sad day when the acrylic incident happened... and an expensive day. My mum just can't seem to decide if she wants me to leave as soon as possible or stay home forever.

If I do art traditionally, I feel like I have more control over it. I can't really explain it but I just find digital art in general to be really difficult though I wish I was good at it. I'm gonna be doing some practice in it though and hopefully I'll improve.

ArtCrawl In reply to TheBearBones [2013-08-24 14:06:05 +0000 UTC]

Eeeh, that sucks. No wonder you don't use Photoshop much. I'm glad that's never happened to me or I would flip...out, just straight up flip.

Aaw, no problem. I really am glad I could help make background work more easy breezy.

Haha I assume it was. I never flat-out ruined my clothes, thankfully, cause that would not end well.

Man, no fair, I've always wanted to feel confident with traditional tools. But I don't except for the usual pen and pencils, paints are a no-go though. I'm sure you will improve with enough practice. In fact you already have. I feel like I've already said something along those lines.Β

It's probably because my Photoshop version is really old and my laptop's just like 'wait, you actually want me to work with this garbage?! Pfft! Nah!' and then it dies because my Photoshop is super gross. xD But yeah, it's frustrating sometimes. I'm kind of used to it's flaws though.

Heheh. Easy breezy. Never heard that one before... And I just almost typed that 'easy breezy' doesn't make a lot of sense but then I remembered I've been saying 'easy peezy lemon squeazy' all my life and that's even odder. Anyway, yeah, you really helped a lot!

I'm a sucker for watercolour nowadays, some watercolours are rich in pigments and you get the nicest, really bright colours from them. I'd definitely recommend trying some sometime if you ever feel like doing some tradition stuff. But seriously, if I had half your skill at digital art then I would be super happy and my life would be complete.
I'm really glad you can see an improvement in my art. It means an awful lot.

I have a few things like that, that I'm so used to their flaws that I can work with it. Have you tried getting a new version, I know that they have about photoshop 7 or something, although I haven't changed from my usual cs5, I'm pretty comfortable with it. But you know, just a suggestion, maybe it'll fix the photoshop problems you've been having to deal with.

I guess "easy breezy" is another one of those things I thought everyone knew about, but then it turns out nobody but me knows about it. Β My vocabulary is pretty crazy and full of words no one has heard of cause they're made up to get the point across. Β

Aaw, you're welcome. I wish I knew what I was doing with traditional colors, they give me a hard time. No, your digital art is cool, I like the stuff you make. You have your own style, which is really awesome.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheBearBones In reply to ArtCrawl [2013-11-18 20:53:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it probably would help. It's just a matter of me getting the funds together to buy it. I have no doubt that I will eventually though because I'm sure it'll be really helpful to have a good working version.

Heheh. xD Odd vocabulary and made up words are way more interesting anyway! I often do it myself at school and I say things that are from the Midlands or something and nobody knows what I'm talking about.

'Own style'. Okay, my friend! I'll believe you! xD But in all seriousness, if I ever get my Photoshop and tablet sorted out to work properly then I'll probably be way more eager to do more of it. It's just a matter of getting my dodgy tech sorted first, I think.
