Description CREDIT TO ARTISTS FOR ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHY:
Bubbles: [link]
Fish: [link]
Cat: [link]

Assignment: Using only photoshop brushes, re-create (however realistic or stylized) a photo. I chose to composite 3 photos. Original assignment in black and white, color added later. Please visit links above to see the original images.

I found the photo of the cat first and fell in love with it, but wanted to make it a little bit more conceptual. Not really sure what the idea behind it is, but I seem to have a fascination with topsy-turvy ideas. Since the cat is in the bathtub, where the water usually is, why not put a fish in the air? Perhaps the cat is dreaming of fish. Or perhaps the fish and bubbles are really floating away, and the cat is simply looking at us with pure bewilderment? Open for interpretation. Let me know your thoughts!

It's like being in a cat's dream or something! So cute. I love his eyes too...my cat always used to look at me like that Maybe he's trying to send subliminal messages through esp or something...feed me fiiiiish! lol Absolutely adorable.

ach looks like one of my cats, with her gigantic eyes, lol. i lovelove the subtle crosshatching here and there; it's a nice added texture, especially on the bubbles. i feel like i want to see a little more depth in the fishie, color-wise, but it works without that, too; seems a bit more surreal without it, which could be what you were going for. anyway! sorry to go on and on lovely work

Thanks, and no worries! I like a good long comment. As I said, I love knowing what people think. I appreciate it! And you're right, I think it is more surreal without the depth on the fish. I was torn whether to go more exaggerated or more realistic. I might touch it up sometime later and post more versions.
