Rayne ran through the woods blindly, leaves crunching under her feet. Tears were streaming down her face and she felt like her whole life was messed up. She was in a huge fight with her best friend, her boyfriend had just broken up with her, and her parents were getting divorced. The list went on and on.
Rayne sat down a rock. A cascade of leaves showered down from the trees around her, and gave the threatening look of tumbling down upon her. Rayne moved her gaze to the gray sky that gave a background to the autumn trees. Just like it's going to rain. , she thought. Just like it's going to Rayne. My name is cursed of such an awful pain. "Cal didn't think so." she said softly, almost expecting someone to answer her. Yeah, and Cal just dumped you, remember?, Rayne thought to herself.
Rayne felt a clearer, cool wetness unlike her tears, on her face. She looked up to realize that it had started to rain. Apparently the sky feels my pain, she thought. Then Rayne did something that she hadn't thought she'd do for a long time. She laughed.
Laughing at her own jokes wasn't as great as laughing at someone else's, but at least she had something small to keep her happy. Rayne sat there for a short while, until she saw someone running towards her. It was Cal. She almost instantly stood up when she saw him. Rayne's smile disappeared from her face as tears began to well up in her eyes, when she started to walk away. She just couldn't take seeing him.
Cal caught up with her and grabbed her arm. Rayne tried to pull away without facing him. "Please……stop." he said. "Why did you come to find me?" Rayne asked, her voice shaking. "Because…" he began. "I---.".
