I've been reading through a lot of the comments on this and especially the ones from Res-Gestae (or whatever the hell his name is) and suffice to say, some people on da just make me lose my faith in humanity. Honestly, it's your life and your art and these people should keep their dirty little maggot infested noses out of it. If they want to complain, they should go and complain to their goddamn mothers, that's what they're there for, to listen to that crap anyways. Your art is PERFECT just the way it is and really, what with work and life and all, it's completely understandable that you have that mindset of yours. To each his own right? Don't let yourself get bothered by these no-life trollers, they have nothing better to do than pick on people anyways. Don't change for these losers! *hugs*

So what if it's sketchy? People, including myself, enjoy it. And it's not just random images either. There are fan-dom stories going on as well. Also, a critique is: a detailed analysis and assessment of something. That does mean something is right or wrong. While based on knowledge of others works, it's still a lot about opinions. And when not asked for, they mean nothing. They're just rude. And just because you're popular, doesn't mean you have to cater to the whims of everyone on the internet. And selling things doesn't mean you have to change how you work. Even if it's just for fun, it's still your work and you are fully within your rights to make products available for the people who enjoy your sketches. They're all sorts of trinkets that, to the people who enjoy them, can bring a smile by helping recall the story lines you have going on.
Some of the people commenting here make me lol. They're wasting their time criticizing you for doing something for fun.
tl;dr Haters gonna hate. I hope you don't mind them too much and continue to post, rather than be driven away by excessive and unnecessary negative feedback.

I like your style, it's the typical sketching-ish style that I like. And beside you get the hetalia feeling out in the drawing. I don't get why everything has to be neat and clean because it's digital. And if you want critiques you ask for them since you want someone elses point of view. You should ignore those who bitches at you for being honest in this FAQ and continue to draw what so enjoys you

well see that is an excellent point you just made there. "Your Instructor"
I did not say I don't take any critiques, I just do not take any stock in those who are not someone I trust..especially from random people online. many that I have received were not from people who actually care about the quality of my work. but only wish to complain about it.

My instructor was a college kid doing a summer job. Barely older than me. There are professionals on dA who were far more qualified in their field than my ski instructor was in his. Just because they are online and you don't currently know them doesn't make them unqualified. I mean, I don't know (or therefore trust) *markerguru but that guy knows his stuff and I'd certainly listen if he gave me a critique.
Given how much exposure you get, I'm sure you've got some very random, pointless comments. Whether those comments are "SO KAWAII <333" or "U FAGGOT", I get that those are non-specific, totally useless and worth disregarding.
However, it's weird to me that someone in an art related career would purposefully do poor work and ignore ideas for other ways to work. I've accidentally discovered so many techniques I like while doing goofy comics for dA. Not to mention, you can train yourself to be worse the same way you can train yourself to be better. Repetition. Constantly doing work you know is below what you could do can get you into some really bad habits.
I get not going 100% into every comic but purposefully putting out crap work doesn't seem like the greatest plan.

well, we all have to do what works, I have my reasons as does everyone else, not everyone is on here for the same reason.
I have stated mine and they are not going to change. what I think is so funny is how so many appear so worried and concerned about weather I try to improve or not.
I am happy with how I do things and if I choose not to improve and to put out crappy art, that is my business.

Part of it, I'm sure, is that you've got watchers who like your work and wish you well. Nothing quite kills an art collection/ongoing story like everything staying the same.
But, for people like me, it's just odd to hear someone talk about being happily mediocre at their career. It's not an art specific thing. I wouldn't want to hear a dentist or lawyer or chef to say "meh, I don't really want to spend anymore time on this and you are just some random person who is paying me" either. It's mildly uncomfortable.

I'm genuinely curious when I ask, why are you working as an artist? You don't seem to like the product you produce or care for your clientele. I'd understand if you were doing fanstuff for giggles and had an unrelated job but this is what you do professionally. If you aren't passionate about it, why not find a career that pays better/requires less?

Because its easy, my job requires me to meet with a group and throw ideas around for logos and brochure advertising and web design, I don't sit and draw all day, being a graphic designer does not require art skill...just a college degree in advertising. and trust me that sort of work pays well

Ohh, alright. So it's not about passion, but money and convenience. Fair enough. I get that.
Though, if your job is easy, it does negate your point in the FAQ about how you don't want to spend time on your dA art since you work hard all day making things look great for customers. Just sayin'.

I disagree. I worked at a comic book publishing company this summer and there were very passionate artists who had been working since before I'd been born. In fact, every professional animator I've ever met with has been insistent that, if you don't love the industry, you won't last.

you are correct, if you are in THAT industry, that isn't my industry, you cant seem to understand that what I do here is not serious to me, its not passion, its play, that is why I am a graphic designer in advertising, and not an animator, or a professional comic book artist to be honest that would drive me mad and is not my goal.
you just need to accept the fact that I enjoy my mediocre style and my lazy and half-ass work. or find some other artist to watch.

Graphic design and advertising are hardly separate from comicing and animation. It's all using the same principles and they are very regularly combined.
I'd actually love to dabble in advertising since it seems like an exciting profession. You have to be so focused and surgical with your creative choices. So aware of your target audience and what messages every piece of your composition sends. It's disappointing that you don't believe people can be passionate about something so incredible.
I don't watch you. I've seen your comics on the front page and this journal on the today page. I'm just trying to talk to you, one artist to another, about a topic you brought up in your journal. That's all.

sorry to disappoint you but it isn't what college tells you or even what an internship can show you.

or tits. Either one works.

These comments make me sad. Did your watchers or you ever stop to think that people critique you because they *gasp* like your art and want to see it improve? Critiques are way more valuable then *insert generic OMG your art is so cute/awesome* response.
Do you have that much USI that everyone that notices a weird-ass anatomy problem is now a hater and jealous?
This is sad, I believe I will now delete anything I have of yours out of my favorites. I know you can't control what your watchers say but seeing you agree with them makes me rage a bit, especially when you sell art with wrong German and wonky anatomy in them and ignoring any critique you get.

Do what you feel you must, I have had my say, and will do what I do because it is the way things are.
Critiques are pointless to me because I do not wish to improve, I am not doing this to improve, I am doing it for fun and laughs enough people buy my stuff and that shows me that perfection is overrated and is an unnecessary stress...especially when I don't have time for it...this is a hobby...I am not trying to make a living from it.

I guess you haven't noticed but when artists doesn't ask for critiques they don't want them, simple as that. And I guess you have to open your mind to art, since art is more than what the eye can see, if a line on a piece of paper can be worth a fortune so can this (I have seen it myself on a art museum). So next time, please think further than your nose when you read, she draws for the fun and for the lols, not for fame and improvement

Oh wow a whiteknight, totally wasn't expecting that. She draws for fun yet sells her stuff? Rather strange. Also it isn't the fact that she doesn't want critique it's her attitude, she is very rude to those who critique her. Plus the attitude of "everyone who finds a flaw in my drawings is a hater and just jealous." is rather immature. She could chose to be polite to those who want to see her improve and yet doesn't.
