we have a tumblr!!

As I told in the provisional form, these guys are part of my Pokemon X team. Somehow the theme that I ended up with for this run was "Pokemon from the oposite gender that they look with names that don't match the gender they are". When I saw this group I gave it a try, and this is the story that I came up with. I wonder I'll end up making any of the girls show up for this too, I have another good story for them... but for now, it'll be just these two.

(For those curious about it, the team's core is composed of these two, a female Venusaur and Kingdra and a male Mismagius. A female Pangoro is also arround, but the final arrangement is still undecided... thinking a lot about a female Rhyperior, and the posibility of a male Roserade lead instead of Venusaur...)

So, re-introducing Team Toil and Trouble!

1st Member: AKINA the Braixen

Nature and Characteristic: Naive, Likes to run

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Ability: Magician
One of his bonus stat points is on hold for now.

His name means "Autumn Flower", and he's the only boy (at least in this generation) in a big family of witches that live in a forest village somewhere far enough of Andalusst not to be bothered with many nagging tourist visits. There is this custom in his family for giving sickly newborn kits male names to help them fend the bad spirits off, but since he was born strong and healthy, his mother saw no reason to give him such a name. He isn't bothered by it, or by being easily mistaken for a girl pretty much everytime a foreigner traveller passes by.

This is the first time he goes out of the village, sent by his mother Kaede on a "quest for self-discovery". He's an easy-going fellow, very optimistic about most things and is always ready to help... I wonder how long will that last : D

He's supossedly a Special Sweeper, so you may read his Strenght stat only as Sp. Attack and a tiny bit of Sp. Defense. He's kind of in the frail side of things. His intelligence is enough to apply his flames where it counts, but he's not really the cunning kind, his way of thinking is more on the line of "headology", if you (read Terry Pratchet's Discworld and therefore) know what I mean.

He's nice and polite all around, but his naive disposition may come off as unimpressive to some, so his Charisma stat is a bit limited by that. His Speed is almos top notch, though. His ability is the only thing I changed from his game counterpad, on account of it looking better RP-wise and story-wise.

The whole being mistaken for female is not only due to his looks, his general demeanor is way gentler than your average male, mostly because he was raised in an all-female environment, so he truly doesn't attach personality cliches to each gender and doesn't really understand why people do it at all.

2nd Member: EMIKO the Mawile

Nature and Characteristics: Impish, Capable of taking hits

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Ability: Hyper Cutter

His name means "Smiling Child", and was given to him by Akina's mother Kaede once he started recovering from the severe trauma of losing his parents in a dark cave (since it was apparent his memory of his own name wasn't coming back). He still has issues with being alone in dark places, and has developed a taste for pranks solely for the attention he reaps with them, but since he keeps them on silly levels it's at least bearable.

Akina and him have been best friends since forever. They make a point of not referring at each other as brothers, though, even if they are almost as close, because Mama Kaede was very adamant on the topic of "not replacing anyone's family, just filling out for them in a time of need and at the most you may call me godmother, dear".

Since he has no "magical" power, he has taken on himself the role of physical helper in the village, thanks to his natural resistances. As a Physical Tank, you may read his Strength stat as both great defense and attack power, and a bit of special defense too, since he has grown up surrounded by one of his key weaknesses. His Intelligence in this case is cunning, give him a stick and a piece of rope and he can pull a prank of McGiver proportions. Because of his (steel) weight, though, he's pretty slow, and his Charisma is only that high because of his looks: anyone meeting him has a quite high chance of walking of with a bucket of water over their head. It's enough to lure unaware victims into traps, and certainly enough to trick Akina time and time again.

Emiko is mistaken for female pretty much as often as Akina does, even if the vibes he gives are actually "tomboyish", specially when he's by Akina's side. Both things he finds delightfully amusing. Where Akina doesn't correct the mistaken gender identification out of politeness and for the sake of avoiding embarrassments, Emiko thrives on the idea of having tricked someone and will try to use it to cause trouble unless something else comes up to sway his attention. Arceus knows Akina has had to reject way too many encouraged suitors because of him.

After the Regis battle once they got to Andalusst they took some time for healing before going to exchange their equipment vouchers. As you can see, Emiko is still wearing some bandages arround his chest (actually for the wound he got on his back). He's considering keeping them, partly because they look cool, partly because they make him androginous enough to still pass for a girl with that vest.

The story of how they fared during the battle was sent only in written form, I'm still giving the last details to the comic that illustrates the first part of the story. As you can see, I write faster than I draw uuUUUU

May just be nitpicking, but you do have one unspent point left. You gain two bonus charisma from fire type boost, leaving one point free for later use if you choose to use it at all.

I know, the second bonus point is on hold until not sure when XD at first I wanted to wait until Aki evolves, which would give me choice for either fire charisma or psychic inteligence, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna end in charisma since it's more on the line of how witch business works... I'm still considering it a plot-induced character development, so until the situation arises that point is not coming and Aki plays handicaped XD

Well, everytime I read a bio, I look for something someone might have missed. Most of the time everything is fine, but maybe the forgot they had two extra points, and they could use them to add something to their character, or maybe they forget their type bonus. I may not be an admin, but I can do my part to make their job just a little easier.

Akina cannot be a witch unfortunately. Witches are female, he would be a warlock instead. The only difference between a witch and a warlock is the gender. Warlocks are male versions of a witches in old folktales.

Not to be rude but, many are people make that mistake a lot. Reruns of 'Bewitched' taught me that late at night after the night shift and nothing was on that was decent.

The word witch is gender neutral. Just as much as the word nurse was applied to both female and male respectively.

Don't worry, as a matter of fact both Akina and I are aware of that. The thing is, Akina doesn't like the word "warlock" because it contains the world "war" and because he doesn't get why gendered words even exist at all. If you have to give him a gendered tag, go for witch-boy. Which he is, having been raised by witches.

Emiko: Yeah, do what she said. You reeeeeally don't want to get him to start ranting about the warlock thing... e__eUU
Akina: Uh... Did I head the "war" word? Who said the "war" word?? ¬¬
Emiko: see? *sigh*... heeeere we go again...

In fact, thanks to your comment I have searched a bit and the warlock thing only happens in certain series like Bewitched, originally the word Witch is gender neutral, it's just that people have the whole old female hag in a broomstick in mind that makes them thing a male witch needs to be referred by another world because "witch" has to be female.

Linky, linky to the wikipedia thingy
