Event: Crow's Survival Assignment [Day 1]

Io managed to coax Ivaan into joining the rest of their classmates. They grabbed themselves a package each and step into the portal, hand in hand. It teleported them into the middle of a winter forest; pure white, carpeted with thick powdery snow. Around them were tall bare trees and a few snow-covered brush. None of the other students were in sight.
Io: [So quiet... but this could actually be fun, don't you think so, Ivaan?]

Io: *stirs from his sleep and crawls out slowly (still feeling a little light-headed)*
[Ivaan? What's wrong?] *yawns idly not realizing the strange colony of rabbits*

Ivaan: *turns his head to Io and pulls him out from the quinzee* No time to explain. Hurry up. We have to get out from here before we become rabbits' foods.
*steps away farther from the rabbits* It must be over 90 rabbits... what the fuck? *still walking away quietly until one of the rabbits breaks into an attack, followed by other rabbits, scurrying fast to their direction.*
Run, Io! *he yells and make a break for it. The rabbits are fast and eventually 2-3 of them catch up and Ivaan swings the spear, successfully slamming them on the trees.*
Why are we chased by an army of white fluffy shits *pants as he starts to pick up the pace again*

Io: *his vision has just started to adapt to the darkness of the night and slowly he could see his surrounding in pale blue thanks to the moonlight* [..more rabbits for food? ... wher--- ] *finally awaken to his senses, he widens his eyes and carefully backs away as the rabbits slowly closing around them*
*at Ivaan's cue, he turns around and just keeps moving as fast as he can (which is also difficult to do when they have to trudge through the thick snow at the same time*
[I think they're angry at us for killing their friends... eeh... do animals seek revenge too?] *two or three rabbits caught the end of his cloak so he unties it, leaving it behind to be chewed by another five or ten more. He also observes their path; on the left a plain empty field of thick snow, on the right, the frozen forest* [Ivaan! Where should we run to now?]

Ivaan: What?! How's that even...*dodges a low hanging branch in a nick of time*...possible? Did they hunt all the predators that killed their friends?? what the fuck....
Do you want to fight them? *glances at Io while running and slowly feels he's a little short on breath by now*

Io: [Fight them?!] *heaves a heavy sigh then looks briefly over his shoulder, trying to verify the current number of rabbits behind them. There are probably around ten ... or twenty of them right now, the rest could be just a few minutes behind.*
[Fighting all of them at once is impossible but I think we've outrun some of them for now. You mind if we take them down little by little?] *without waiting for Ivaan's confirmation, he turns around on his heel and pulls out his knife simultaneously in a defensive stance* [Here they come!]
*at that, two rabbits caught up and leap at him at the same time. Shielding himself with his left forearm, he swings at them with a long horizontal motion, successfully slashing across them. The blow sends the rabbit a few feet back onto the snow, sprawling in their own blood*

Ivaan: Tch... *swings his spear upward to send two rabbits flying off and slashes the upcoming rabbit from his right with the knife* The knife is too small! *groans before a few rabbits grab his cloak. He throws off the cloak and stabs the vicious creatures with the spear quickly. One of the rabbit comes and bites his sleeves so Ivaan seizes its head and slams it down the ground and pierces the struggling rabbit with his knife.*
*As they almost finish killing all of the rabbits, the rest of the left-behind rabbits show up, scurrying fast to the bloody field.* Great. What now? *wipes his cold sweat while picking up his cloak hurriedly* Let's run again. we can't fight all of them...* begins to dash to escape the colony. While running, he glimpses at Io, checking if he got any fatal wound* You okay?

Io: *shakes a stubborn rabbit off his boot then retreats quickly, following closely behind Ivaan*
[I'm fine, just some scratches. What about you? Did you get bitten?]
*saw an open path leading deeper into the forest with more patches of shrubs on the ground* [that might slow them down... Ivaan, this way!] *catches Ivaan's arm and pulls him towards that direction*

Ivaan: A little bit... but it's not that serious. My body is sore from running than injuries..*huffs at his aching legs. He follows Io's lead to an area with more shrubs.*
Be careful not to get your pants caught up to--IO! *he yells as Io suddenly disappears behind the shrubs while dragging him along. His body all jerked down to a dark deep place with Io falling in front of him.* (A hole??) *his uniforms got torn from the sharp roots protruding on the wall of the hole and his head bumps sharply at every corner, making him growls in pain* Io!!! *he hears soft grunts in front of him and when they stop rolling, he feels io's body against him*
What's with this huge hole.....hey are you ok? *shakes his head to keep his consciousness*

/Above them, loud thumping of the rabbit rushing by can be heard from the bottom of the hole. The noise gradually fade away and then everything is left dead quiet as if nothing had happen before/
Io: *his body aches from the rough fall although nothing appear to be broken and there's this ringing in his ears but he could still (faintly) hear Ivaan calling. From the dizziness, he also assumes that he might have knocked his head against something hard*
*whimpers* [...Iva...n...]
*feels as if fatigue is taking over his body and before he could respond to Ivaan's question, he has already fallen unconscious*

Ivaan: Io! *panics as no answer coming from him. He searches Io's face with his hands in the darkness. His hand scraps by Io's cold cheek and he quickly bring his fingers to Io's neck to check his pulse. The pulse is there although it's faint. He exhales in relief as he pulls Io's body closer to him.*
We're literally in deep trouble *scoffs a laugh* The rabbits are all gone for now.... *blinks his eyes as he tries to adjust to the darkness. He manages to vaguely figures his surrounding. Then he checks Io's body for fatal injuries that might cause loss of blood. As he finished, he leans back against the hole's wall, feeling the fatigues and aches setting in*
Don't sign me up for this kind of task anymore.....*before he slips into sleep, he pulls out his torn cloak to cover them both* Good night.... *kisses Io's forehead and closes his eyes*

Io: [... mn...] *opens his eyes but closes them again quickly due to the brightness of day. Then slowly, he opens them again and looks around. Ivaan is still curling by his side, fast asleep with one arm protectively wrapped across his chest. Apparently they have fallen into a huge hole; about six or seven feet deep, possibly an abandoned animal burrow or the remnant of an old shelter made by hunters. Io shifts a little, pushes Ivaan's arm down carefully before shaking him on the shoulder*
[Ivaan... Ivaan wake up. ] *presses his palm onto Ivaan's forehead to make sure he doesn't catch a fever or such*

Ivaan: un...*shifts and blinks his eyes rapidly as the brightness of the outside penetrate his eyes* io? Ooh..*groans at his sore body that sinking in quickly*
What time is it? *still in daze and forgot the situation he's been through*

Io: *hugs the confused Ivaan out of relief* [Ivaannn thank God you're okay~!]
[... unfortunately we're still here... and I guess it's noon now?] *stands up, stretches his body and looks up* [We need to get out of here.]

Ivaan: *a little bit shock at Io's sudden hug as he finally remembers the situation the day before. He then rubs his eyes gently*
Ahuh....*looks up to find how deep the hole is, and how hard it'll be to get out from there. He gets up carefully, thanks to his soreness*
Do you think you can reach the top if i lift you up? The roots coming out of the walls can maybe help us. Well, if it's strong enough... *tries pulling on of the root to test the strength* It's good i guess.....

Io: *nods* [It's deeper than I thought but this height should be okay]
Without wasting time, they attempt for the climb. Io stands on Ivaan's shoulder, grabbing onto the roots for support as Ivaan slowly elevate him higher. When he could feel the flat ground on the surface with his hand, he places one foot carefully onto the bumps in the wall and with one push, he hoists himself up easily.
*looks down and stretches his hand to Ivaan* [Ivaan, your cloak. I'll pull you out~]

Ivaan: *throws his cloak to Io* It's a little too short. Wait there..... *takes his knife and digs a few hole on the wall for his feet to fit in. After that, he climbs, gripping hard on the protruding roots to reach the dangling cloak*. Hold on tight, Io! *He attempts to grab the fabric and luckily he manages to reach it.*
Ok go on! Pull me out! *finds some stubs to help the lifting easy. He slowly got out the hole, crawling out with heavy breathing.*
What kind of survival game is this.....*lies down on his back and turns to Io* Are you ok now? I'm not that heavy, am I? *chuckles*

Io: *looks down in a rather serious face* [Actually, you are. Maybe you should stop eating all those apple pies--] *looks at Ivaan again to see his reaction but he couldn't help but laugh* [Okay I'm kidding~ Come on~ up up now~] *offers Ivaan his hands to help him up off the snow.
After making sure for the last time that they don't sustain any serious injuries (aside from their torn and dirty clothes; which is funny because they look much worse than they actually feel) they trace the path back to the area where their shelter should be and they could see the dead rabbits along the way, which is nauseating.* [...we did all that? That's horrible...] *turns his face away and moves closer to Ivaan as they walk*

Ivaan: *mumbles* Apple pies got nothing to do with this.... *takes Io's hands and stands*
Smells disgusting...*screws his nose at the stench and clutches Io's hands tightly* I don't think I can ever see rabbits the same way again.... *they walk to the shelter and find that the place is still standing strong, save for the dead firepit.* Can't we just sleep...*groans*

Io: [Oh!] *crawls in to check on the interior and luckily it appears undamaged. He also checks the bag inside (it's Ivaan's actually) and to his relief, their potions and water (although almost frozen after being left overnight) and the last packet of crackers needed for the second task are still inside. He pops his head out of the entrance and waves at Ivaan to come inside*
*gives Ivaan one of the half-frozen potion, and clasps the other one in his palms to warm it up* [um... should we just stay here and wait for signs of the others? ]

Ivaan: *squats and twirls the given potion bottle in his hand* I'm kinda tired so let's just wait here and tend our wounds....*slumps completely on the snowy ground and he groans* That't cold.... *rests an arm across his face as he sighs in exhaustion*

Io: [...] *stares for a while before hesitantly hovering his right hand above Ivaan's covered face in attempt to perform healing but of course nothing happen*
*sighs then lies down and curls next to Ivaan* [... yeah... let's do that... ]

Ivaan: *reaches out Io's hand and holds it tight* You still think this as fun? *silently smirks*

Io: *shakes his head against Ivaan's side with eyes closed* [ I want to go back... this isn't fun anymore.]

Io: *waves both of his hand dismissively* [ it's nothing... I'm fine~] *eats more to convince Ivaan*
[ It's going to be a long night. I was wondering how the others are doing... ]

Ivaan: *narrows his eyes suspiciously* hmm.....
*is not convinced but continues eating anyway* Probably got eaten by bear or wolves already. That'll ease our job. You should probably go to sleep first. We can take turns to guard.

Io: [um... I probably should...] *finishes up his last portion of food*
/The next fifteen-minute they spent is a complete silence, just watching the fire and occasionally, they would hear the creepy howling of the wind. Eventually Io stands up to take off the extra cloak he's wearing and wraps it around Ivaan's shoulders neatly./
[You'll need this if you're going to stay out here in the cold. I'm warmer now, thanks Ivaan.] *hugs his shoulders from behind* [ I'll drink one of the potions too so don't think of it too much, okay~?] *gives Ivaan a peck on his lips* [ Good night~]

Ivaan: Oh yeah...thanks *pulls the cloak tighter together and receives a peck on lips* You'll do that. Night...
*gets up from his seating to fetch a bunch of long moderate size branches from nearby trees. He brings them back and starts jab them into the ground around the shelter side like a fence in hope it would keep them off from wild animals. After finished putting up the 'fence', he sits down on the log again and picks out one of the branches and carves the end of it to make it sharper for a makeshift spear. He makes a few of them in case it's broken later*
It's getting late now... *put out his palms near the fire and rubs them together*

*Sounds of stomping on freshly laid snow can be heard. The two looked at whatever is making that sound and saw a cute little white bunny. Before they got a chance to get near it, another one appeared, and then another one and then another one. Soon enough, they're surrounded by about a hundred bunnies or so. They want revenge from Ivaan and Io disturbing their home. Run....they have rabies. *

Io: *beams at the warmth of Ivaan's hands* [Ahh that's great~! Almost finished here but I need to be sure if it's safe to sleep in tho~]
*crawls out then Ivaan follows after him*

*reaches over and steps onto the roof of the quinzee. As he balance himself, he stomps on it a couple of times to make sure the structure is solid and secure* [wow... it doesn't collapse...] *grins mischievously*
[ Okay~ catch~! ] *throws himself at Ivaan*

Ivaan: Wha-- *startled by the sudden fall but reflexively catches Io in his arm* Hey give me some time after you notified me geez...I could have heart attack just now *sighs*
*He then places Io near the fire pit* Cmon warm yourself up. I'm going to find more woods and twigs near the stream. Don't do careless thing ok? *Walks away to get barks and moderate-sized logs. He places them all on his cloak and ties the cloak together before dragging the whole things to the shelter site. When he reached there, he pants and immediately grabs his water bottle and drinks appreciatively. He has the urge to loose his tie a little bit but he remembers the weather will be unforgiving soon*
This is really exhausting...*opens the tied cloak and drags out the biggest logs he got near the fire pit.* Sit here...*pats the log*...You won't have soaking pants then. I rather have you wet with other thing *snickers while arranging other tinder nearby and pulls cloak up to pat out the snow*

Io: *Stays behind obediently and guards the fire while warming himself up. He also puts their water bottles close to the fire to make sure the water is at a consumable temperature. When Ivaan returns he welcomes him with a worried look on his face* [You could let me help you know, careful not to work yourself out too much...]
*looks at the log and sits where Ivaan ordered him to; his head propped with both hands on his cheeks* [ and surprisingly... not even this awful weather can stop Ivaan from thinking about that huh. So... what else should we do now? Wait for tomorrow?] *scoots aside and gestures for Ivaan to sit next to him*

Ivaan: *raises his eyebrow as he finishes patting out the snow from his cloak and heads towards Io* What made you think I won't do anything to you even in this awful weather? *laughs and sits* Aww you won't even want to warm me up that way huh... *tilts his head at Io and dons an apologetic smile*
I guess so. I'm more worried about the second task....I'm not good with knife. I don't suppose I can kill the opponent just with my fist, can I? *takes a long twigs and pokes at the pit*

Io: *looks away, puffing his red cheeks* [... when you say that I don't know if I should beware of the bears and wolves or you now because either ways, I'll definitely end up getting eaten and not survive day one at all.]
*watches the fire crackles as it burns the twig Ivaan's holding little by little* [Well, you can always try~... but don't worry Ivaan~ I'll protect you--- or something...] *feels a little embarrassed with his statement* [...and of course, I'll be counting on Ivaan too~ I mean... you're a better fighter than I am afterall~]
*snuggles to Ivaan's side and rests his head on his shoulder*

[oh! The crackers...] *fishes a packet out of his pocket and tears the lid open. He takes two pieces and hands the remaining halves to Ivaan* ((I'm assuming regular 4pcs/pack ;; ))
[our dinner~ at least we have something. We can save the other one for later.]

Ivaan: *halts from his munching and looks at Io before smirking* Now you sounds like one of those blood-thirsty crazy bunch of people back at the academy...*gets up as well and takes a few twigs to stick them up at the quinzee entrance* I don't know if this is effective but i hope we don't have any intruders when we got back...
*walks to Io* so what shall we hunt today, my fellow huntsman?

Io: *smiles confidently at Ivaan* [Huntsman Ivaan, ] *flicks his knife then points in the direction of the forest with it* [ ...anything that moves and bleeds are edible...]

Ivaan: Pfft! Moving and bleeding huh? I see you got your judgment all thrown out of the window, Huntsman Io. *retrieves his own knife from his boots and begin to walks through the forest*.
Aren't most animal hibernate in this season......*stops his track as he saw a cottontail rabbit near a brush pile. Readying himself in running stance, he hurries to the rabbit and jumps over to catch the rabbit. The cottontail scurries away easily while Ivaan falls, face down on the snow. He groans in frustration and lifts his head* That doesn't work.....

Io: *giggles* [It might work if you're a bunny, Ivaan. Here~] *offers his hand to Ivaan and helps him up* [Too bad, our dinner has just escaped, but at the same time it left us its trail.] *points at the fresh tiny footprints*
[Hopefully it doesn't go too far...] *quietly follows the trail that eventually lead to another thicket of snowy brush. He lowers himself and turns to Ivaan*
[... in there? What do we do now?]

Ivaan: *takes Io's hand and stands* because i never hunt a rabbit with a knife.... *wipes his face from snow* It's either a rifle or my power. Didn't I say I'm bad with knife....
*follows Io from behind quietly* uh....if it's inside its hole, then we have to lure it out? Would making noise scares them?

Io: *nods* [Let's do that. I'll go that side, see if we can corner it...]
*sneaks to one side of the brush and when he's ready, he gives Ivaan an 'OK' sign*

Ivaan: *steps carefully to the nearest brush and nods to Io* Now! *with that cue, he shakes the brush as hard as he can to make a lot of noises and draw out the hiding rabbit. After they both shake every brushes to their hardest, the cottontail didn't even peek out*
Tsk.....*walks towards the burrow and kneels. Ivan get impatient with it and sticks his hand into the burrow to forcefully drag it out. The rabbit somehow bites his roaming hand in its habitat, making Ivaan howls in pain and pulls away his hand. After a few seconds, the rabbit scurries out of its burrow fast before they regain position*
*taken aback by the sudden jumping rabbit* Whoa--!
