Description Illustration for a scene I never got to see. I'm just starting to draw anime and manga, but I like the way this came out. Background elements copied from digital sources, the rest by eye. Created using Photoshop Elements.

This one used a lot of borrowed elements for the background and bed - it added to the realism but I can't feel it's actually mine, but more something I wanted to see. Β  Β Glad you seem to like it too.

Great job!Β  This looks like a scene from what SHOULD HAVE been shown in the anime!Β  Yes, I too was frustrated by Arakawa leaving Ed's convalescence out of the manga!!Β  ANd why couldn't the anime staff have given us a very-much needed filler episode about it then, if the manga-ka decided to leave it out in order to move the story along?Β  Grrr!Β  You DON'T do that to anime fans...run the teenaged hero through with a beam, then leave us hanging until he's well, and can rejoin the "Badassery Brigade" again!Β  Once fans get attached to a character, we want to see everything that goes on with them.Β  Waiting three episodes to see Ed again, and not being given anything on his care or recovery was cruelty to fans, and a really stupid storytelling decision!

I agree so wholeheartedly, I can't even add to your excellent post! Β  Β This was my first attempt at drawing anime and it had a lot of borrowed elements (like, the whole background?) but I wanted to see this scene so badly, I had to! Β Glad you thought so too!

Oh this is beautiful as well ^^ The quiet stillness of it all is stunning
May I ask you someting, what part of the manga do you think this would take place in?

I must confess to stealing a lot of the background and most of the bed from the scene in North City where Darius is hiding out in the back room of the hospital they took Ed to. I filled the rest in by sketching the face and arm from other stills in the series. It was my very first attempt at anime and since so much of it is borrowed, I don't tend to crow about it much. It might make a good base for a picture, but it was really only meant to illustrate Edward's recovery in North City for myself. I was so bummed they left his entire convelescence out of the story that I had to do something to illustrate it for myself and I thought a few other angst lovers might like it too. I'm glad you do!

Oh lol xD Well I am impressed that you were able to make it fit with the rest of the piece so well!
Oh, I see, I like that you illustrated this scene. ^^
Yes. I was bummed that they didn't show it...I really wanted to see that part

Again, your manga/anime style never ceases to amaze me!

I'm afraid this was a simple case of drawing a scene from a still from one of the Brotherhood episodes and then stealing a background (I hate doing backgrounds - the one for 'Good Morning' took longer than drawing the people did!) from another episode and drawing them together. This was the first piece of anime I did and I wasn't sure how much a 'copyist' as I consider myself to be would be tolerated at this fanart site. It hasn't gotten much attention, but nobody's thrown me out over it either, thankfully. LOL!

No, it's never in anything, though I sure wish it had been! After looking around for someone who might have illustrated this 'lost scene' and not finding any, I realized that if I wanted to see it, I'd better draw it myself. I used the background from a screenshot to save myself filling one in but the figure on the bed was drawn from reference materials.
