I still want to improve some. A good tip that I can give you is to start with a rough pencil sketch, then scan that in and re draw your pencil drawing using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator or Freehand on a separate layer. While you are redrawing it with the pen tool you can easily make adjustments to perfect your work.

I usually do it like a digital painting, using a layer for the line art, one for the flat colour and one for the cell shading. There are many ways to do it though.

There are some really freakishly talented people who can draw straight into vectors without a sketch, but like 1 in a million could get that right. My advice is to do that sketch first. You can concentrate on proportion, perspective and compositon. This will help the final result.

Just keep practicing and you will see great results.

When I am bored one day at work I will put together a tutorial, watch out for it in the next few months.
