I couldn’t help but be nervous… it took us months to get to this point, and here we were… Aimee’s battle with the Elite four.
Aimee’s battle with my brother Ryuu. The stadium was a cool dark color, very much what I had expected from Ryuu. We all stood to the side of the match (well I stood, Tooru and the others sat watching). The girl I had spent months travelling with stood on the left side of the arena (I was relatively close to her) while my twin stood across, he smiled as he eyed me.
“You look a little tense bro, maybe you should lie down.” He grinned while I remained steadfast, inching closer to Aimee, breathing.
“Ryuu’s all about speed and physical attack, you need to be faster with a strong defense.” I practically hissed, Aimee sighed.
“Don’t worry, I got through Nikta and Sonya… I’ll get through this.” I wasn’t fully convinced. Ryuu sighed, bored.
“So are we gonna battle, or are you two just gonna keep gawking at each other?” I simmered while Aimee smiled, pulling out one of her pokéballs.
“Alright then,” she focused on my brother who grinned, quick to throwing out one of his pokéballs.
“Go, Mightyena!” right on cue, a furry black wolf formed from the pokéball growling. Aimee squinted, eying the black wolf. With a pokéball in hand
“I can work with that, Come on out Altaria!” she grinned, throwing her pokéball. A flash of light formed as I blinked, seeing a blue bird surrounded by clouds appear. It cried out in that obnoxious chirping tone I knew it for.
Why did Aimee choose that Pokémon? She had a fairy type that would have been so much better to use.
The battle was off with the Mightyena rushing towards the bird, Ryuu had just called for a slam attack.
“Avoid and use dragon claw”-
“No, hit it head on with Double edge!” I then protested, Aimee blinked, eying me like I was crazy before looking back to the battle. Altaria was hit and fell back, I scowled, turning. “Have her use Aerial ace!” Aimee at this point seemed to be frowning ay my ordering, while Ryuu sighed.
“If you want to battle, why don’t you collect all eight badges.” He rolled his eyes while I scowled, looking to Aimee.
“Come on, aerial”-
“Ice beam!” Aimee then turned, instantly the dragon Pokemon cried out and a blue blast of ice shot from it’s mouth, hitting Ryuu’s Mightyena and freezing it. Ryuu blinked at this, surprised.
“…What?” Aimee then turned to me, frowning.
“Shiro, sit down I can handle this.” I shook my head.
“No, I can help, I know his strategy and”-
“I need to do this, not you.” Aimee then replied, stepping off the arena (Ryuu was just sighing, crossing his arms). “This is my fight.” Aimee them replied, closer to me.
“Yeah, but”- She instantly closed the distance, pushing her lips onto mine in a surprise kiss. I froze, standing there, unsure how to react… slowly I kissed back, hesitantly.
Sure I had thought about her like this, but… I never thought it’d actually happen.
Aimee finally pulled away, eying me with a smile.
“Aimee…”
“Go sit with the others… I got this.” She grinned, I slowly nodded.
As I walked back to the bleachers, nodding the others, Ryuu was smirking the whole time.
“Well… now that that’s out of the way…” I blushed, while Aimee grinned.
“Let’s get back to me kicking your ass.”
