“Come on Skitty!” I began while my Pokémon lied on the bed, “Like we practiced honey.” And as expected, my pet looked up to me, and then meowed, lying back down and curling up. I pouted, frowning. “Aw come on, the contest’s tomorrow and I need you ready.”
She remained curled up, purring softly… as adorable (and infuriating) as ever. We were in Glacial Peak City, and I was preparing for my third Contest… and Skitty’s first. I guess I could understand why Skitty was acting this way, it was cold out and she liked sleeping inside the warm room the Pokémon Center allowed us to stay in (which we were standing in).
“Please Skitty?” I then begged, “This is going to be my first contest that Naava will show up at, and I want to impress her.” I tried reasoning, Naava was in town visiting her boyfriend (apparently she had one now), and promised to watch the contest and cheer me on. Never had I felt so much pressure to succeed (even considering my first contest that my brother attended). My adorable/lazy Pokémon remained insistent… staring up at me with her trademark grin. I pouted, before sitting down on the bed, sighing, “I hate you…” I muttered. My Skitty simply purred and scratched her neck at my elbow.
Right as I sat there, I heard footsteps approaching, looking up from the bed I noticed someone entering, a tall guy wearing a red apron with a red Breeder’s cap. I turned back, looking to him, surprised.
“Josa?”
“Kimi, good to see you.” He smiled, I remained steadfast. Josa was a Pokémon Breeder that helped Aimee’s group (A group I ran into frequently) on a regular basis. We were good friends… partly because I always found myself drawn to him… that beard, that goofy smile he had. “I didn’t know you were in IPC.” I shrugged.
“Well, there’s a contest, and”-
“I heard,” he smiled, “Aimee talked about watching it with her friends.”
“Oh right… Aimee’s here.” Likely here to battle at that gym… of course that’s why Josa was here.
“I’ll definitely be cheering you on,” he smiled, while I shrugged.
“That is if I can get this lazy bum to wake up and move.” I then replied, referring to the cat at my side. The breeder eyed Skitty, taking it in.
“Hm, she does look lazy.”
“I’ve tried everything, even her favorite food… she doesn’t want to practice.”
“You know,” Josa then replied, “When my Ninetails was a Vulpix, she had the exact same problem, always liked slacking off… then again I got her in a trade, but regardless.” He smiled, I smirked.
He LOVED talking about his Nintetails, he worked so hard raising her, and not even for battle or contests.
“So what’d you do?” Josa smiled.
“I realized that to get her started, she needed a… rude awakening.” Right as Josa said that, he quickly picked up my Skitty from her stomach, hugging the Pokémon sharply. My pet’s eyes widened, staring at him while he smiled. “You awake now?” he then asked, while the Pokémon simply grinned, licking at his nose. He smiled to me, handing the Pokémon over to me, “Cuddly girls like this? They love cuddling.” I smiled, slowly taking my Skitty back from him… before blushing, we had never been this close, and he seemed to notice it. “Would you um… agree?” he then asked, blushing while I grinned.
“I think I would.” As I said that, he lowered his mouth to my forehead, kissing it, while my own blush intensified. He then sighed, smiling while my Skitty purred.
“I’m sure you’ll be amazing.”
