I really like it after looking at it a few times. I can really relate to it, at least, how I percieve it as being you want to help someone and you have the power to, but your just being held back by an unknown force and your trying to break free...but you just can't. Something I can really really relate to lately.
And I'm not sure whether this is intentional or not, but it appears as if there is a lashing across his back, right underneath the (my pov) left shoulder blade. Is that intentional?
BTW, when I first saw it, I thought it was a photograph. It wasn't until I full-viewed it taht I relaized it was on oil painting. Great great job.

was the paper tightened onto the mesonite, i mean like canvas? i cant really see any other way.
anyway...this is amazing, i cant get that kind of smoothness in the texture of oil painting.

that sounds great fun, ive just added watercolor paper to my christmas list. so you put the matte on then spray fix, or the other way around? ive never seen oils on watercolor paper which made this seem so interesting.

Well you have two options:
1.) On the watercolour paper (before doing anything to it) you could draw your drawing. Sketch it really well with the shading and everything, it will help your painting and give it more richness in the beginning, spray it...really well...then matte med. it down.
or
2.) You could use the matte medium to stick the watercolour paper down to your board before you draw (masonite, plywood...etc. not illustration board). Now, you can use gesso...but that kinda takes away from the paper's texture. After it dries, you draw...then spray.

Oh, this is great. Symbolism in realistsic pieces comes off with a lot more intensity for me. The falling feather and the binding creates a story behind the tatooed person. This has a contemporary Icarus feel, yet this charcater never got to fly or fall before being constrained. Maybe on the verge of ascension. Awesome work.

Sweet! Double points. The feather, as my professor says, creates 'tension'. So glad you enjoy it.
