I suggest you to try this:
- Scan your image (ink or pencils...) in grayscale. You should be able to select this on your scanning program.
- When you've got this, put it in a layer on multiply mode.
- Create more layers below to apply colors.
If lines on line layer still a bit dirty, try using levels console.
Go get that PS7 and try this

Good work, but as I said before (and a deviant is saying), i'm pretty sure your line is better than we are seeing here. It seems like you scan your draws in indexed mode, not in grayscale, and you lost line info. Sorry for my crappy english, as always

im not sure about indexed modes and grayscales but the photoshop i have is "Photoshop Elements 1.0" and is more pixilated than Photoshop 7 which kinda sucks . It doesnt have Channels and the alpha thingy so i have to use Threshhold Tool for mine. i think thats why my lines are dirty and pixilated. im currently trying to get Photoshop 7. I hope that made sense
