Description I made this in summer 2010 and had forgotten all about it because I left it somewhere... But my mother found it and put it in a beautiful golden frame! It looks nice now

I made this for practice, copying completely this amazing concept art from the movie: [link]

I didn't capture the light the way I wanted, though... Gotta fix that.

What a wonderful use of paints! I love the way her hair is flowing out into the night air. Great contrast of light and shadow on the hair as well! This is fantastic!

Thanks! The forest was not very defined in the original concept art, so I destroyed a pair of brushes doing this XD Glad you like it!

I LOVE ALL YOUR TANGLED FOLDER!!!! I wish I had more time to comment all of it but this is my extreme favorite! It's just... leaves me with no words I wish I could say something that made justice to how much i like it. I loved the movie and this is just amazing<3

Beautiful! I think you've done a great job. Oils are a difficult medium (at least for me!) but they are also very, very rewarding. I particularly like the way you've handled the brushstrokes in the foreground; they look very artistic!

Learning by copying works of art you like is a great way to learn. I absolutely love Mary Blair's work (and, like everyone else in the art world, I'm awestruck by her use of colour). To learn why and how she used colour, I grabbed my dusty pastels and tried to re-create some of her concept work. It was a great experience and I learned a ton about colour.

Speaking of studies...I need to do some Degas studies soon (I love his soft, romantic style and the delicate way he handled pastels! Simply marvellous).

First of all: THANK YOU!! For always helping me and faving my work and everything, you know what I mean

And second... Totally agree! Oils are difficult, but very rewarding because you see not only a drawing, but lots of hours and sometimes days (I wait for days till the layers are completely dry!) spent in doing it, so it's good when you are finished! Have you tried to do something with oils? I'd want to see!

Ah, dusty pastels! Now THAT's difficult for me... I have tried, but I can't catch anything with that technique! I know what you mean about learning how to use the colours. That's exactly what I want to improve by copying So you like pastel colours, uh? Degas is definitely one of my favourites and I'd love to see some studies from you! Btw, you know how to speak about art

You're welcome! I only wish I had the painting skills to create my own replica like you did; I saw the actual print is going for upwards of 200 dollars and it made me sad.

I have already checked that... WOW! It's soooo expensive! But you can try, just for practice or fun! I thought it was very difficult when I started and almost gave up, but kept doing it, little by little... I think you are a great artist!
