Contest entry for (the amazingly talented) !! When I saw the contest journal last month, I just knew I had to participate heheh. Rascal's such a great character & after hours of dedication and fun, I finished! I think I'm finally realizing what my art style is like ^^To celebrate his 3rd birthday (well he's not three.. but LOL I think you know what I mean xD) I decided to mix & match up a bunch of elements from his other "looks"~ (Like the cape, accessories [piercings and snakebites], vest&pants combo, hairstyle, etc. are all from different outfits of his.) In a way, this painting is like a big mashup of a lot of the outfits he wore. And of course, he's sitting on a throne!
Anyway, I hope you like it, Whiluna! And best of luck to everyone else who is participating
Note: I'm trying the whole grayscale painting thing again. I think this time was much more successful than the last :3 I'll probably be trying it again soon! Also, the fuzzy stuff was intentional. It's not blurry or pixelated, it's grain! ^^ Because when the light shines you see a lot of those tiny particles haha

Love the light in your art - it looks bright and clean. In this particular pic I especially like the colours. The cold and warm tones are balanced very well and the way they're not overly saturated is very pleasing to look at. Plus, the details are really good. The most important parts catch the attention right away (like his eyes and the necklace). I like it overall, a

Wow.. this is really good!! What did you use to make this? I think my favorite part is the fabric of his clothing. It seriously hurts my head trying to figure out how you made it look so realistic. I...just..dont...understand >_<

Thanks! I used photoshop and a wacom bamboo create tablet ^^ Haha, the fabric was pretty much just a base color layer, a texture layer, and a few overlay/filter layers to give it a higher contrast and color value :3 I posted a process gif for this drawing, maybe if you check it out you can kind of better understand what I did :3

Thanks~ Yeah, I concentrated a lot of the grains toward the lighted area, for that blurry/particle effect that light tends to give sometimes ^^
