Description Houston, we have a heat problem. I'm kind of figuring that in the future when ships are having at it this sort of thing will happen alot and they'll get too close to something and be torched to a crisp. This started out as something else with a planet in it, but I scrapped that because I was tired of planets. Figured I'd try something more fiery. So this one would be the product of Modo, Apophysis, Photoshop and me Wacom tablet. Original size is 1920 x 1200.

if we replace ships with warglobes, then this is how imagine the war between faeros and droges.
two species in the saga of the seven suns.

After visiting my place i was curious about your works ^^

great! i must confess
this one is pure heat
did u use fractal elements?

Yeah, most of it. The for the sun and the ships were modeled in 3d, then I used a variety of fractals and blended the whole shebang by hand. Or something like that. If it happened more than five minutes ago it's a little fuzzy.

this is the coolest sci-fi thing I've seen in ages! usually people geek out on all a hardware and details, but this is all about action, mood and colour. damn fine job.

Wow. That's beautiful, love the integration of the fractals as solar flares.

Awesome! Reminds me of Homeworld 2! Also, the star is stunning, like viewed with a Hydrogen Alpha filter. Well done!

This is just.. AMAZING. The sun is breathtaking, I don't think I've ever seen a better one. ^^ I love the story this piece tells, as well.

Many thanks Definitely put some time into the sun, especially since I haven't seen very many pieces like that, so it seemed like a good challenge. Turned out pretty well, I think.

JESUS CHRIST, this is phenomenal, this is probably the best use of strange attractors (i assume thats what they are) that i have ever seen. 3 thumbs up and 6 stars. Im amazed that this dosent have more comments and favorites.

Thanks for the comments It's a combination of, let's see... 15 different renders based off a few different types. Don't remember if I used all of them, but most. I made the base in modo while referencing some close-ups of the real sun courtesy of NASA. Love that website.

Well, 4 favorites in 4 hours isn't bad going in my opinion! I do agree, though, that it deserves more - it is a very, very good spacescape.
