Gotta say, I had fun picking out the monsters for the characters.
Lets get right in!

Our story: It takes place where Cryptids and Humans lived as equals for generations to come, however due to unknown circumstances the Humans pledged war against the Cryptids whom fled to the far reaches of the world to escape their grasp, eventually they ended up on a valley of sorts where the Humans proceeded to trap them inside the border. For years to come, the Cryptids planned on escaping but their attempts were invalid.

Suddenly, a human-like monster fell into the border unable to cry for help, the Royal Heir noticed their cries and aided in their fall, eventually the two worked as siblings and was accepted into the family as one of their own, unfortunately while their friendship was in bloom it was never to last forever as the fallen monster grew ill and later on that night died; their last wish being to see the flowers in their homeland bloom.

The Heir filled with grief and determination, absorbed the fallen human-monsters SOUL forming them into a being of unlimited power no other could dream of earning, crossing the border he came across the land where the flowers bloomed only to see it was a now-formed village to whom the residents retaliated and started attacking him sickened that one of his kind would dare walk into their land.

But with every strike and with the power to destroy them all and reclaim the land, The Heir refused to kill and instead laid his fallen sibling onto the bed where his kind used to graze, smiled and began to walk away. Returning to the border, The Heir found himself in the royal chambers before in his last moments letting out one final roar before his demise where his ashes were spread across the floors.

Later on after the recent passing of two of the Royal Kin, The King pledged that whoever has the power to harness a human SOUL must be killed in his simmering, demonic rage, and so he took life after life with anger in his heart however his wrath formed to guilt from his loss for his children, eventually the Queen utterly disgusted that her husband became nothing more than a demon left to a place far away in the border leaving him empty.

Now, divided of his morals and people The King dwells on the highest peak of the land awaiting the final SOUL needed to shatter this barrier to free his people for even a Demon like himself could feel sin from that day. Now the final fallen human-monster trecks foot onto the border filled with DETERMINATION. This is the story of ANOTHERTALE.

Characters:

Frisk/Fallen Human - Bigfoot: * "You're filled with DETERMINATION."
I had originally thought Frisk to be an Explorer or Hunter depending on the route, but at the same time I couldn't help but wonder what they'd be like as the famed Sasquatch or Bigfoot. That and I was kind of inspired by the Bigfoot "Evidence" video with the creature walking the way Frisk does, the world works in mysterious ways y'know?

Flowey - Jackalope: * "In this world, it's hunt or BE hunted."
Seeing as its such a cutesy creature that wouldn't harm a fly, this Jackalope has become twisted and desires nothing more than the extinction of all Cryptids themselves. While he's not the strongest of creatures he sure isn't harmless so be careful he might bite... or nibble.
He likes manipulating people a lot.

Toriel - Loch Ness Monster: * "Be good, will you not?"
Ever hear Scottish Folk refer to the Loch Ness monster as a girl rather frequently? Well what I had in mind was to have Goatmon be a Seamom where I could imagine her being able to swim in the water or walk on land rather easily so she'd be able to give you a free water ride. It also came to me that I always thought the Loch Ness Monster as a motherly figure. (If a couple of movies haven't taught us anything.)

Sans - Mothman: * "you're gonna have a bad omen."
So, a messenger of disaster and a pun-loving skeleton walk into a bar- I felt like this was the most perfect fit out of most of the characters that I picked for this AU, from his awareness of disaster to coming off to be like some big bug he seemed to fit the bill for this character.
They also have glowing eyes.

Papyrus - Owlman: * "I, THE GREAT OWLMAN, ELECT TO GRANT YOU DISASTER!"
Owlman and Mothman could be argued to be the same creature, but I digress in that regard! Owlman likes to straighten his feathers and act tough whilst fighting and leaves nobody to be left in the dust. Except for himself!
He also likes cooking lasagne.

Undyne - Kraken: * "You're gonna have to try a little harder than THAT."
Self-explanatory in all honesty. She's a brutish fighter who'll never give up until her foe is sunken beneath the waves alongside her immense willpower that took ships themselves down to a watery grave. Though she's tough and reliable on the outside, on the inside she's got a heart of gold and is willing to fight for her friends until the end, even if it kills her.
She also teached Owlman in cooking lasagne.

Alphys - Mokele-mbeme: * "I just wanted you to think I was smart and cool. That I wasn't some... nerdy dinosaur."
She's a ditz, but a lovable one. Being a Royal Scientist to the King she's extremely reliable in the ways of science and engineering, however with her perks she has also got her faults seeing as she's large its often thought that she thinks herself as oversized, unpopular and unwanted she wanted to merge herself into the Player's journey.

Asgore - Jersey Devil: * "Child... It was a pleasure to meet you. Farewell."
Horned beasts who're said to be the true monsters of their kind, though this version of the Jersey Devil had monstrous intentions to destroy humanity it was quickly quelled from the death of his children and the loss of his wife.
Poor bastard.

Mettaton - Flatwoods Monster: * "So as thanks I’ll give you a honorable reward, I’ll make your last living moments... ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD!"
Once living with his cousin on a corn ranch, this alien-creature had higher thoughts of not only becoming a star but to become one with the stars, as such he and the Royal Scientist worked together on creating an artificial body that could show the world his true self. His first form was almost indestructible almost resembling a flying shield, his next form however really stood out for with it he could get the entire lands attention.
If only he had time to say goodbye.

Napstablook - Dover Demon: * "REALLY NOT FEELIN' DOWN FOR IT RIGHT NOW. SORRY."
The cousin of the famous star, really reclusive and lives on a corn ranch.
He likes music a lot.

Monster Kid - Kasai Rex: * "Yo!"
Seeing as Monster Kid and the Kasai Rex look similar animal wise I just kind of went for it. He's not fully grown so it explains the fact hes not like his sister or parents, he however unlike his counterpart have arms.
So, thats an improvement...?

Temmie - AYY LMAO Aliens: * "AYY! I'M AN ALIEN! LMAO!"
Self-explanatory.
AYY LMAO.

Grillby - Dragon: * "................... good job."
They represent the embodiment of fire.
He'd offer you a glass of water, but he never touches the stuff.

Muffet - J'ba Fofi: * "Don't look so down, my deary~ ...I think purple is a better look on you! Ahuhuhu~"
Giant spiders of legend, pretty creepy, huh?
Thats the best I can conjure.

Mad Dummy - UFO: * "Eradicate. Eradicate! ERADICATE!"
Unlike his other cousins, he took his anger out on flying old and worn-out spacecraft, usually it seems he has some colleagues following him ready to fire their lasers at any unsuspecting target. However, it seems this little green man has an unusually large temper.
He also hates it when his craft is referred to as a "Saucer".

River Person - Bunyip: * "Tra la la. I am the Bunyip. Or am I the Bunyap...? It doesn't really matter. I love to swim in my billabong. Would you care to join me?"
This one had me thinking, originally I was going to go with an average Sea Monster such as the Lake Champ Monster or Chessie, but in the end one creature that caught my attention that I studied a lot back in primary was the Bunyip, a creature that transports you from area to area via riding on them to the said destination.
Struth.

Annoying Dog - Chupacabra: * "You deployed the dog...?"
I had a debate with myself on who to pin the Annoying Dog as, at first I went for Kitsune or Tasmanian Tiger, but then I decided that the more recognizable of Dog-like Cryptids would be the Goat Sucker itself.
Undertail jokes aside of course.

Asriel Dreemurr - Wendigo: * "Don’t hunt, and don’t be hunted, alright? That’s the best you can strive for."
Fitting the whole trend of being trapped inside the body of a Jackalope, it would seem suitable for it becoming so harmless and fuzzy into a creature of mass destruction, heck he even has the horn-trend of his father. This is the true form of our rabbit friend who from absorbing all of the Cryptid SOULS becomes an absolute god of death, although he can't help but remember a old friend from long ago.
Known for being a crybaby, despite his appearance.

Chara/First Human - Yeti: * "Greetings. I am..."
The fallen Cryptid from long ago, even if their body is physically destroyed their SOUL still lives on somewhere deep within the player for being the embodiment of their desire to hunt and kill. Not to mention that they were friends with the King and Queen's very own child and eventually became like siblings for one another, but with all great things they must come to an end.
And must be ERASED. Also plays the polar opposite of the fallen Cryptid.

W.D. Gaster - Indrid Cold: * Beware of the man who smiles.
The mysterious mastermind who was the great royal scientist before the new one made her debut, he was listed as a man of great intellect almost unbeatable in many aspects of his wit and fame. But it seemed that one day he vanished without a trace.
Its said he's still here, not alive nor dead, but watching.
