Description Nearing the end of this X-Men RemiX project, I've decided to throw in 7 wildcard characters. They'll all be surprising and each sexy as all get out!

So first up is Grizzly! I wanted to do a character I could fit into my image of a beefy guy, since you guys are all saying I need to draw more beefy guys.

Definitely one of those early 90's X-Force explosion characters, Grizzly enjoyed brief minor notoriety and even had a Toy Biz action figure. A member of Cable's Six Pack and good buddy of Domino, he was then brainwashed into villainy and killed. But regardless of his history, I thought he needed a chance at redemption by my pen. And now that he's done, I have to say, he's become one of my sexiest characters to date! Count on me drawing Grizzly again... perhaps with Jean-Paul... or maybe Mr. McCoy...

And yea, the naked version in Anti-Heroes.net → Members Gallery is pretty frikkin' hot, if I do say so myself! I gave him a serious chode! Definitely not one to miss for you bear chasers or anthro lovers out there!

Nice to see this guy again.

Shame Marvel killed him off in such a rubbish way.. but then maybe he's not dead....

No one's ever dead in comics, dude! All we need is a writer who came of age in the 90's on an X-Title. Then we'll see all that stuff resurface. Thanks for commenting!

Just discovered that there is a version of Grizzly in the Ultimate universe who transforms into a bearman form. Plus we got to see him an older grizzled vet and as a young student at Xavier's.

I would love to see a muscular version of him! I do not conform with the tragic end that Grizzly had! Be transformed from a hero into a killer serial killer by Onslaught was the final straw! I would very much appreciate these times in which characters live back the death, at least Grizzly had a chance to come back to life! He did not need an explanation or flashy like Peter Rasputin / Colossus ... he survived because he had a healing factor hyper-accelerated despite not being "no Godverine" you can still spending. Dominoes hit him a deadly shot in the head "he died" but woe to his healing factor acted and healed him and shortly after "having it buried in a tomb," he just got up and left him marked by guilt ... and when Wanda said "No more mutants ..." he was one of the lucky ones who retained their powers ... I think he was a member too cool for the new X-Force as well as Cable ...

Yea, I really don't like when established heroes become villans. Granted, Grizzly was never as popular as say Bishop, who was an established hero for nearly 2 decades before spontaneously become a psychopath. But nonetheless, Grizzly had his fans-- fans who liked his look and personality and dynamic with Domino.

Anyone can be written back from the dead in comics-- that's not really the hard part. The difficulty is him garnering enough fan support to give writers a reason to bring him back.

LOL that you want a less chunky version of my Grizzly Bear. See, the reason I made him beefy was becasue my followers really like my beefy men- and I really wanted to redesign some of my X-Men remixes into that look. Grizzly was (I thought) unknown enough that no one would really notice or care.

But you have proven me wring, my friend! LOL. Thanks for commenting!

Wow. Really do not remember this dude... but that could be because I'm not familiar with the '90s X-Force title (I only own a few issues -- most of which primarily have to do with either Moonstar or Tabitha). So this is REALLY a surprising addition in my mind.

Grizzly, you can tell, was really one of the many characters whose costume was just so '90s. (Although, if you tell Jim Lee that throwing millions of pockets and shoulder pads on characters is dated, I'm sure he'd get offended given how often he does it now) So I can appreciate what you've done to remain true to the '90s fashion but at the same time modernize it a bit. The hair is definitely toned down and the costume isn't as over-the-top. I like the beige and blue combo. His face is cute too. But as you know from our discussions on Beast and Nightcrawler, fuzzy anthro dudes aren't my cuppa.

Northstar likes hairy. I might pair them up!

The best thing about pulling out old forgotten characters outta the woodwork is it's easier to imagine them queer! haha!

Northstar seems to have varied tastes... he had that black boyfriend with the afro, he slept with Hercules and has admitted an attraction to Gambit.

True. Very true. Characters with very little backstory or relationship development who make very few appearances are usually the best to imagine gay. Look at Karma. She's a good example of Z-lister turned gay.

yea-- although IMO, I feel like she became slightly less relevant after her outing.

God the metal leg thing annoys the shit outta me. What'd they run out of stuff to do with her? They could do something with the frikkin TWIN she absorbed! Or something with Leong and Nga. Like they could finally become teenagers and get some powers-- maybe have em interact with Karma's-- since that's the rule of superhero comics-- if siblings have powers, they have to relate or affect each other in some way- lol.

Femmes-Fatales In reply to ANTI-HEROES [2011-07-07 20:12:59 +0000 UTC]

Poor Karma. Part of the problem is her powers. She's essentially a few abilities short of being a Psylocke or Emma Frost since she only really possesses mind control.

For days now I've been doing one of those dream teams and I really want Karma on it but keep finding that she just doesn't fit in because of her powers.

But I would definitely give her her leg back... Illyana could EASILY manipulate the magicks in order to give her it back.

The sibling power dynamic has always been interesting to me. But it usually most effects mutants. I think Emma's family had the best batch of sibling relations in terms of power. They were all within the psychic range and they all were unable to harm each other. Colossus and Illyana also tie-in nicely together. Their abilities are far enough to be diverse but both have some kind of metallic transformation (but Magik doesn't always have the metallic armor). Some of the rest are a bit random... particularly the Braddock clan.

ANTI-HEROES In reply to Femmes-Fatales [2011-07-08 14:12:52 +0000 UTC]

Actually yea, the Braddocks powers don't relate at all. So squash that theory. I read somewhere that they're retconning Jamie to not really be blood related to the Braddocks, but rather adopted from Otherworld.

I avoid Vulcan media like the plague so I dunno how his powers tie-in to the Summers. Any clue?

Femmes-Fatales In reply to ANTI-HEROES [2011-07-08 19:19:45 +0000 UTC]

NOOOOOOOOO!!!! LEAVE THE FUCKING BRADDOCK FAMILY ALONE!!!!! I LOOOOVE the dynamic Cap and Psylocke have with Jamie. Especially Psylocke and Jamie. You could see the bond they shared when Jamie brought her back to life using his reality warping powers.

Yeah, I've only read the Second Genesis so that's the only place I've seen Vulcan in. Ed Brubaker really impressed me on his Catwoman run (I consider it to be one of the greatest writer runs on ANY comic) but his X-Men stuff has been a bit hit and miss with me. I wasn't sure how I felt about there being a team that went in to save the original X-Men before Storm's team and I'm still not sure whether I like the idea of Emma being approached to be part of that team. I feel like it was just a way to try and make her part of their larger history when maybe she didn't need to be.

But I still haven't read The Rise and Fall of the Shi'Ar Empire. I would probably be more into reading it if it weren't so long and featured X-Men I was more invested in.

yea what annoyed me more about that deadly genesis shit was the retcon of Xavier & Krakoa. The whole "secret team" I can deal with. But Charles 'warping everyone's mind into thinking that Krakoa was sentient' is bullshit. Krakoa is a major point in X-Men history and to up and just change it like that is horrible. Such a stupid idea-- it ruins Xavier and fucks such a cool point in the history of the X-Men.

The fact that Brubaker was allowed to do that really angers me-- and I suspect others, because I think the Shi'Ar shit he was put on afterwards is *purposefully extremely removed from the main X-Men storylines.

Femmes-Fatales In reply to ANTI-HEROES [2011-07-09 05:42:42 +0000 UTC]

I want to cling to the hope that Brubaker was forced into writing that shit. I really do. Because I regarded him so highly prior to that. Like I said, his Catwoman run is one of my all-time favourites. He really re-invigorated her and brought her back to her roots (well, away from thievery but back into her old neighbourhood).

I don't like this constant need to make Xavier into a villain. It really pains me because Xavier WAS supposed to be this great, optimistic man and to have him turn out to be a conniving, manipulative person really rubs me the wrong way. It's just a recurring trend in the X-books. There's no "hero" anymore. Jean had her ascension and Storm got married... and suddenly Xavier's dream just died.
